Bertos definately should be playing on the wing this game. Leads the club on assists this season with 8. Still putting some decent crosses in - like any of our players, he does some shoddy ones too. Had a couple of dangerous looking runs the other day. Remember that his form wasn't great leading up to the All Whites match and he crossed it in for the winner. He's not playing as well as he was at the start of the season, but still playing well enough / is good enough to be in there.

Not sure re: defence. I'm inclined to get Siggy in there personally. Our defence wasn't actually that great against Brisbane. We were darn lucky they didn't go one up or equalise. Though to be honest, I didn't see exactly who was at fault. We've gone pretty good at the back in general with Durante / Siggy combination at the back though. No offence to Mckain.

McKain has played better than Durante of late though in my opinion.
So I would look at somwthing like:
           reddy
Hearfield McKain Durante Lochhead
                 Manny
        Lia              Brown
Bertos/ Ifill     Ifill/ Greenacre       Caceres

Crowther
Sigmund
Diego
Greenacre/ Leo

Depending on Greenacres fitness, it would be the only real change for me. Even Leo hasn't played that poorly either. Harsh on Costa but he hasn't kept that consistency that he needs

Durante is playing well and lets remember that one more yellow card will get him suspended. Cant wait for Jan 9. Put those roaring cats to sleep

I think Matt McKay is also in the Austalian team, the game against kuwait is on thursday morning, so its going to be a long trip to Wellington for Mckay and Oar. The Phoenix v Brisbane game is the first game of the weekend so it is quite possible we could be sitting in fourth place next Saturday night and with Perth playing Sydney and Newcastle playing Melbourne on Sunday we could still be fourth on Monday morning, dreams are free aye and i'm dreaming of a home semi final  
As for our team i think with Hearfield, Bertos, Caceres and Ifill all have the ability to run with the ball and beat players and with Greenacre back we will be very dangerous.
I would have 1 change in the starting team with Greenacre in for Muscat, Lia goes back to DM. Sigmund will probably have to wait for suspensions before he gets back in the team .

if we play 3 up front I reckon you'll see cacerras in the missle with bertos and Ifill playing out wide....Ifill seems to be more comfortable on the wings with the ability to create things from both sides - I'm so gutted I'm away for this game and the next....hopefully I nca catch it at a pub!

I'd swap mckain for siggy though. Mclain seems to want to give away silly fouls at the wrong time. Other than that smithy11 lineup looks sweet.

Well, I think Siggy should sit out a bit, give the current form players their place in the starting line-up.

Hearfield has been solid at RB, and has provided attacking opportunities that Manny hasn't given us. That's a bonus we shouldn't give up easily.

Muscat did well last week, and you can't fault McKain for his defensive work with some great saves.

With Dadi, I'd suspect if Greenie plays, Dadi will be on the bench to get some game time.

Will be interesting if Ricki plays Greenie and Dadi together from the start, that would throw cat amongst the pigeons selection-wise.

Where we are in the season needing wins, positions should be guaranteed only on current form, exceptions to perhaps Ifill and Reddy.

i dont think we should make any great changes to the side that beat ccm. bringing greenacre back is probably for the best, but bringing in a completely new player might not be such a good idea

Don't disrupt a back four that is playing together well, McKain is in very good form and is a far better CB than DM  - leave him at CB, leave Hearfield at RB to deal with Oar's pace.
 
Lia and Brown established combination.
 
Caceres is also in good form and deserves a start, Ifill automatic and Leo due for a good game.
 
Big ask for Greeny to last a full game and Dadi to step straight in to starting 11 - give Greeny 65mins and then bring Dadi on or, if Greeny is holding up, bring Dadi on for Caceres at some stage. Would love to see both starting up front together but not this week.
 
Muscat offers more options (RB and DM) than Sigmund so he gets the bench spot.

that was my team (with Iffy, Cac, Bertos mixing it up) - but as far as your bench goes - needs Siggy for CB cover

It's a trade off between Siggy and Manny.
 
If Manny's on the bench you have RB and DM cover. Indirectly you also have AM cover as Manny could go to RB and Hearfield to AM. Brown (?) would have to cover CB.
 
With Siggy you only have CB cover - no DM or RB cover.
 
However, with Oar's pace, ideally you wouldn't want either Manny or Siggy at RB.
 
Also in back of my mind is Lia is a card away from a 2 game suspension and Brown a card away from a 1 game suspension so giving Manny more game time at DM is probably a good idea if he is going to have to play there sooner or later - unless Ferrante ......
 
McKain could go to DM but he's wasted there and Durante is also a card away from a suspension so sooner or later Siggy and McKain will be the CB pairing.
 
Anyway, Muscat or Siggy is a  good selection dilemma to have.
