Pedj Bojic to be red carded for trying to kill Rojas out of frustration and desperation.

With Ifill out injured, if we got a penalty vs Mariners who do you reckon would take it? Brown I'm guessing but maybe Dura?
Lia would be good for comedy value (as long as the result wasn't hinging on it).Silent_Assassin2011-01-07 21:23:40

Daniel for me if he was on.  Maybe even Hearfield.

Daniel? I'd feel a bit funny about Daniel taking it. I think Brown or Rojas should take it .. though when you take a penalty you kind of need to intimidate the keeper too, and because Rojas is so small, I don't know if he'd do that. Though his skills would intimidate.

Pretty sure Daniel took them pretty well in season 1 (could be wrong). You don't need to intimidate the keeper, thats ridiculous, I would probably go with Rojas, or Greenacre if he was on.

Would rather have sky high Lia or even Vukovich take it than Hearfield.

I doubt they would give it to rojas, I imagine it would go to one of the more experienced guys. I would say Greenacre, Daniel, Ward and Brown in that order depending on who was on.

daniels results from the spot have been less than inspiring in the past.

rojas, so special

to be fair, he has had some go against him cause he had to retake.

But I would expect Daniel to take if he was on. Doubt Durante would want to.

Doesn't Vuko take a decent penalty? Fifa 2011 thinks he does anyway...

Daniel has been alright - the only horrible one I remember was in our first game against Melbourne but he made up for it with the goal.

I think it would be Greenacre or Daniel, depending who's on the field. Daniel would be likely to jump at it but Greenacre would take responsibility being the professional he is.

Also I think it's rough to judge players on their 'penalty taking ability'. Unless you miss the target or replicate a Dadi effort then it's mostly luck. Any player at this level knows you have to pick a spot and hit it well. Has Daniel muffed one that badly?

Greenie or Ward for penalty duty. I think penalties should fall the way of the striker most of the time but I'm less sure of DMac for a spot kick

I remember Daniel having to re-take it against Sydney (?) and getting it both times

Greenie missed the only penalty he has ever taken for us didn't he? Last season against Newcastle?

Valeo may be thinking about season 1, when (IIRC) Daniel converted both times after having to retake the first due to encroachment by Felipe.

Naturally it would be Ifill.
But I'd give it to Ward, seeing Greenie and Daniel both warm the bench. If they were on the field, then maybe.
I remember Andrew Durante taking a penalty early in the penalty shoot outs last season.

i thought this whole penalty question was asked because ifill and greenie aren't starting at the moment... yet most of you are saying greenie or daniel and some even ifill

try the question this way:

"with our likely starting lineup today, who would be your penalty taker?'

i would go with ward, second choice brown

Nope. the question asked was 'with Ifill out injured...'.

But to answer you're question, of the starting players I would probably go with Rojas to be honest. He seems to be on fire at the moment and has shown he can finish well so why not.

tbh wouldn't trust any of them out of our starting lineup. Maybe Siggy :D

I'd prefer Ward to take it if it came up.

Would be happy to get a point from this game, ecstatic if we took 3! Come on Phoenix! 6 hours till kick off.

OK, here we go then....

THE Prediction......

(Drum rolls, thunder claps, Weta Workshops finest etc)......

The Mid-Coast Landlubbers  0    The Mighty Phoenix  2

Remember, I'm quite often right (a bit of a softening of position here, 'cos I've been a bit adrift on scores lately, although I generally get the result bang on)

We are the Phoenix. We can beat anyone!!

Nostalgia isnt what it used to be...........

Been away for a few weeks, how long is Ifill actually out for?

Funny that we appear to be doing better without him though...

He's out for 6 more weeks. I'd still have him starting if he was available.   We've only played 2 games without him. One of them being against the Fury and we didn't play well there.
