Ferk!!! So Gareth is now going to win the trip to Kiev......how can you beat a photo of someone in their stripey in the Antartic!!!

NZHerald says that Ifill will play and the only change will be Bertos back into a midfield of Brown, Lia and Sanchez.....so no Smith

Rickis comment that there is no reason to change anything because things have been going well the last few weeks is extraordinary.

So its Brown and Lia in midfield again....sigh!!!! If they could change one thing...please please someone needs to play in a holding midfield role and provide cover in front of the back four. If we do like we did against Victory, where Brown and Lia both pushed forward together and left a huge gap in front of our defenders, then we will get shredded.

If we are going to rest players, that sucks for Lindsay, the one time he would get a chance, but he's up in Taupo for the Olympic qualifiers ...

Still can't believe he's got 0 game time this year with such a thin squad. Couldn't see that happening at any other A-League club..

Not saying he'll be the messiah or something; but surely he's a better option than Downey or Tattslotto?
Lindsay plays in the centre of the park, where we have tons of options. Downey has got most of his time when he has been thrown on to chase balls down, whilst we are sitting back defending leads. Tatts has come on as a wide player, where we don't have much depth in the squad.Over the off season I hope Lindsay goes and plays in the Aussie state leagues, so he can get some game time and help him develop.

You can't say we have 'tons of options' in the centre of the park when it looks like Ward might start..

Lia, Brown, Smith do serviceable jobs but none of them are exactly irreplacable.valeo2012-03-24 19:08:00

As Perth are now winning, Herbert can piss off with his resting players. How about trying to win and build momentum? Is that just a bit too much to ask of old dull Ricki?

Perth now 4-2 up so I hope we go all out for the win as we have absolutely nothing to lose.

We could lose players to injuries. I don't think it's worth risking Ifill for 90 minutes, maybe bring him on for 20 mins at the end if we need just one goal to get third.

If we want to sell tickets for next week, turning in a turgid performance tomorrow ain't going to help.

I see what you are saying but you can't do much about bad luck. Are we not better to try and finish 3rd? It would be our highest finish ever and I am disappointed by this 'nothing to play for' attitude that seems to have now appeared.

That's right, I am not angry, just disappointed

I'm surprised some of you still haven't figured out how this works.

Last night's result means Ricki will probably rest some players believing a win by 3+ goals is a bridge too far.

CCM are now firm favorites to win, Perth believe they have two home finals locked down, no pressure at all on the Nix.

Leggy thinks it can't be done. Steve-O is already complaining about Ricki's negative tactics without a ball being kicked.

It's a perfect storm of variables that virtually guarantees we will play a blinder, winning handsomely and storming into 3rd place.

Ricki will then return to his default selection for next week.

Anything's possible today. Phoenix just have to play well, not matter what the final outcome. A poor performance after that Victory shocker will impact on next friday majorly - crowd size for a start.

Can't see Herbert playing Ifill with the home final just 5 days away. We're not a technically gifted side across the board, and that's showing against these top sides. But we're the gutsiest.

Hey Smeltz was great last night.

How important are those turned down obvious penalties and incorrect offside calls hurting us.

not so bad if you score 8, total entertainment 14 goals in a game would be a lovely sunday rollercoaster ride

Ha haha 8-6 that would be awesome! - If both sides a willing to play attacking football, then it seems plausible...right?

CCM want to wrap up the league title and we want 3rd place...

The problem with last night result is now CCM want this game more than we do (if you read and believe the press) If we don't want 3rd place sack Ricki!
