Good win there, thought they'd mucked it up in the end there but 3 points in the bag.
At least a draw next week and we could be in for a bumper crowd v Melbourne??

Go the Phoenix!!! Play-offs here we come, 15 000 + for next home game..........!!!!!!!!!1

Well done the Phoenix, but I thought Newcastle were dreadful.
We let them have too mch ball in the last half an hour and nearly paid the price, that was sitter they missed.
Still , a very handy 3 points.

That right there was one of those ugly 1-0 games, but it's a 1-0 we will all be happy to be on the right side of.
After Ifill's goal, we didn't really seem to offer a whole lot more on attack. Newcastle it has to be said were pretty average all night, and through us not being able to kill them off, Vignarioli almost snatched another injury-time equaliser....how pissed would we have been?!
Nevermind, onwards and upwards now for the MIGHTY NIX!

We were completely stuffed, that's why. And the Vignaroli miss was about the only time in the game they managed to split our defence. It was a very gritty display right across the park and we deserved to win.

lets beat brisbane at there house then come back to a 20k plus home match against melbourne

they did so well, considering the heat!

Valuable points... they could have pinched two at the end (off us) but they didn't. Sucked in!
Great work boys

great stuff, it would have been pretty challenging in those last ten mins
certainly had a few chances to finish it off, oh well what's a bit more stress if we win

Newcastle are poor. Very poor. How the hell they won the season opener is beyond me.

Superb win. Well done lads.
Three for me, and two for them.

a win next week and 15k may show at the ROF

I was gonna save my pennies until next year but might have to come to Welly for Melb game if this keeps up. Where are we on table are we now?

Assuming Perth don't get three points.

I'll take it but wow that has to be one of the ugliest victories we've had. Nobody played particularly well at all for either team. MOM would probably be Paston. He was by no means outstanding but better than the rest.
I'm struggling to think of worse performances. Definitely the round two match of season one against CCM. Can't be many others though. Obviously the heat was an overwhelming factor in it.
We didn't get any bookings did we?

Don't think the performance was that bad compared to Newcastle's?

Exactly - we haven't got the reward for the way we've played in Australia this season.
Frankly, I couldn't give a toss about how or why we got the three points tonight, we got the three points. End of story.

id rather 3 pionts than a good game

I can't agree with that at all. Ifill, Bertos and Sigmund were especially good. The back four were solid and dogged in extremely trying conditions. To me that was the best of our wins this season in terms of commitment, spirit and professionalism.

if sydney beats perth then we stay in 5th place :) GO SYDNEY

I'd give Ifill MOM over Paston, who didn't have to make anything as close to a WC-qualifying save. Ifill just looks likely every time he gets the ball.

A draw would also do the trick.

we outplayed them. even the commentors gave praise saying that we looked more hungry.

if anyone reckons we didnt play well. then try playing in 38plus degree temp!!!! We played good enough which is why we have 3points

Gr8 2 see our luck changing also. If that "shank" had gone in at the end I would have needed to buy a 2nd new computer inside two months...

No

I'd prob give MoM to Bertos or someone else form the midfiled. Not Ifill, he didn't do that much apart from score the goal
