Brisbane look very average at the moment, but the thing is they have some great players that can do anything

How did diego make that team i hardly saw him all day.... or is it just goals unknowningness again

I thought Diego played a good game, comfortable on the ball, showed for it and passed ball around nicely.

Don't want to go back through the thread, so apologies if it has been discussed.

I would never want to take a goal away from my fav team and especially my current fav player Paul ifill, but what's the rule of having his boot at ear level and (after seeing the replay) kicking grizzly beer Milicevic in the bonce while scoring?

Grizzly voiced his displeasure but the rest certainly didn't seem to mind.

We desperately need the points against you guys this weekend but tbh I can't see it happening. Ange is just as bad as Frankie in  persisting with lost causes like Packer, Dodd ans Nichols. Can't believe that our biggest attacking spark in Oar was left on the bench. Henrique I can understood, given his lack of recent match practice.

Unfortunately, his brain snap near the end will ensure he is not available to face you guys. We need a fit Mass, Zullo, Miller and Reinaldo to be any chance of going on a late-season run. Unfortunately, that prospect is still a few weeks away.

As for the Nix, you're just getting better and better. I can see Daniel, Ifill and Bertos carving up Packer and Franjic, neither of whom are in the class of Muscat and Lochhead.

I quite like Franjic.

He's an okay attacker but for me he struggles defensively which should be his bread and butter.

His boot was pretty high, but the defender did seem to me to bring his head pretty low. I thought it was ok - and I don't just say that because it was us.

Herbert will be pleased that they got the win while he was in the stands sick. That will probably be pointed to regarding him going to the World Cup draw.

From what I understand, there is no specific law for 'high boot' as such, but there are laws to award free kicks, if in the referees opinion a raised boot is in danger of causing injury to a player eg a boot could end up in the face.
This law also seems to cover the efforts of bicycle kicks, injuring another player, or even the player executing the bicycle kick

Branko thought it was dangerous because the big Lump put his head down towards the ball.
It appeared on the TV he said to the referee 'He's f**king 6 foot 4' or something along those lines.

The referee didn't have a problem with the goal, and that's pretty much the end of the story.

From Law 12:

'An indirect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if, in the opinion of the referee, a player

-  Plays in a dangerous manner...'

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I have no problem with the goal because it was ours, but Ifill did kick his head and Milicevic hardly bent over at all, so it was definitely high. I think if it was in the middle of the field a free kick would have been given.
We'll take it, but would have complained if it was at the other end, just as the French would have moaned if an Irishman had scored off a hand ball. Win some, lose some

Player is always entitled to go for the ball, and in front of goal they tend to get more slack than they would if they were kung-fu kicking in the mid-field (or into the crowd in Cantona's case...)

If there was more connection with player than ball, then the referee would definitely have called a free kick, but it was mostly ball.

It did make him extremely ugly, so assumed it made contact. Maybe it didn't

What did he say ?

Asked if his ninth-placed team was still capable of making the finals, said: "We're only a finals team because all the teams around us are pretty sh*t as well."

FFA are turning into a bunch of wowsers. First Vidmar, now Culina for by most standards very tepid remarks in terms of 'offensiveness'.

Just a quick note on this game.

I was there as part of 8 fans of the Nix. It was unbelievably hot, like a fan oven blowing on you. Wasn't overly humid I don't believe, just hot!!

Kudos to the boys after the high of the week before to get up again for this game.

Finals here we come.

And a big thank you to the NSW TAB for putting up $3.25......thanks for coming!!
