I'm guessing there qon't be any commentary on this one again. Would be brilliant if there was.

I still don't quite know the PSC play-off formats. I think I read somewhere that the top two qualifiers from each group meet in the final with no semis (correct me if I'm wrong).
Still quite early in the week, but does anyone know any players who will defintely miss the game. Lochhead is the only one that I know for certain and of course Lia. Lastly, is David Mulligan a chance to play this weekend?

There was commentary for CCM vs Sydney though right?  Surely Sydney FC have a large enough fanbase and enough money/publicity/local radio stations to broadcast all their games..

Sydney is an A-League media hole.

Sydney are about the only Aussie team in the A-League that doesn't have a local radio station covering their games. Most other clubs have the local ABC radio network doing the coverage, with the exception, IIRC, of Melbourne - SEN and CCM, who have Coast FM or something like that.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Karl Dodd is out - he has two yellows, so he's suspended.

Jon McKain and Troy Hearfield are on a yellow each, so may not be risked, as another would mean they'd miss the first A-League match (unless the Phoenix make the final).

And Mulligan is here....so he's in the mix.

i'm picking mulli to start on the right and siggy to start in the middle for mckain, that'll leave prob daniel on the left and then bringing kwasnik for his first start. if lochy gets a contract then i'd expect either daniel or siggy to get his spot

My XI for this match:

                    Moss

Mulligan Sigmund Durante Daniel

       Christie         Johnson

Bertos            Gao            Kwasnik

                    Smeltz

Bench:
Paston
McKain
Brown
Costa

Daniel at LB to see what he can do there in the event that Lochy ends up leaving. Christie at DM to give Ferrante a rest and Kwasnik to start as one of the attacking trident.

With the potential departure of Lochhead the injury to Vince Lia leaves us so much more vulnerable. He is the kind of person who would be ideal to have on the bench with a lineup like this, as he could cover the CM position as well as the fullbacks and the wingers. I don't like the idea of Christie being our cover for central midfield, hope Brown gets fit soon, I'd give him a run off the bench if possible this weekend. Do you guys think he has the technical skills and passing ability to play as Ferrante normally does as our playmaker?

                    Brown               Johnson

      Bertos            Gao                Kwasnik

I'd say this is the best line-up with costa, daniel and covs  coming on for bertos, Kwasnik and smeltz

Lol at the thought of two Christies in the starting XI, I pray that we never have to resort to cloning him and using him to fill two spots! He has tried and failed at RB, so Mulligan should really play there this weekend and either Sigmund or Daniel for LB.

I wonder, is it possible that mr muscat (the young one) could get a run in this match

a) as a newly signed player

or b) if the rules permit, as a triallist

There should be scores here, as with last game.

Go the Nix, Preseason Final in Year 2 would be a dream.

On the Phoenix website it says its a 7pm kickoff, I'm assuming thats local time so will be 9pm here.

If you're referring to last week's game, that was provided by a local central coast radio station. It's not looking good for this game.

be interesting to see if Muscat does anything with the opportunity,

shame we are without Doddy and McKain for this one

hopefully we'll make the final (even then, i wonder if they'd get Mckain to sit that one out too - or doesn't the final count for the pre-season booking tally?)

Yeah, it does count tigers....so I think any of the likely matchday squad for Q'land who were on yellows would sit out the final if the Phoenix make it.

clearly Tony P is right to question the pre-season booking/suspension rules  - it could make a bit of  a mess of the final if we have too many sitting out (oh, yeah,... if we make it)

Have put a formal request to FFA to abolish all yellow cards after this round. My argument has been that the two GF teams would be disadvantaged as they play an extra game and the players could earn another yellow which would out them out of the 1st round. Sydney got 7 yellow last week. Imagine if they got more yellows this week. No Colosimo, Brosque etc playing in the first round. Not good for the A League as you want the best players playing.  Hopefully FFA understand this and adhere to my recommendation. Will let you guys know.

Stuff saying today Muscat and Christie to start at left and right back repectively. Agree with Auskiwi, Costa gets a run at the end of last year, doesn't look out of his depth but hasnt had a chance in pre season. I wonder if he put on a few pounds in Sydney and theyre trying to get his fitness up

Football Federation Australia today amended 2008 Pre-Season Cup disciplinary rules to wipe all yellow cards at the end of round three of the warm-up competition, meaning that the two teams contesting the final will start with a clean slate in terms of cautions.

Well done Tony P - good lobbying!
