They had enough clear cut chances to make it six easily. I mean alloisi hinting the post and that last one. Really we were almost lucky with the scoreline. although we made a a heap of chances ourselves

That's true, they are good at the back, but looking back over the previous few matches he hasn't made much of a contribution.

He's superb in training though by all accounts, and Costa isn't so much.  Funny old game football.

Agree with those who are saying: "bad night, move on."  100% the attitude.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I never really liked Crowther and he's done nothing to make me change my mind.  Will not dive.  That save from Brosque was a lucky fall.  He could possibly have done some more about that first one.

I don't want to sound like a poor sport as I know we were completely outclassed, but I'm reasonably sure that Corica was offside for that second goal.  Only one of the replays was any good for trying to tell but it was quite a short replay.

And who was at fault for that penalty, who 'encroached'?  That pissed me off like nothing else.

I've been saying for ages that Ricki's been pissing Costa round, I wonder if he'll continue to do so after another goal.

You think about it, they score 3 and it looked like a 6-0 hammering coming up yet they did not take the foot off the pedal. And we held them goaless in the 2nd half and scored 2 ourselves (ok, one was disallowed). I think we came back ok and thank f**k we were not completely humiliated.

+1

defense caught out by some real Sydney pace and having to play forward to get back in the game.  We've got no real quick men in the back 4.

If that is the case then we should give credit to the defence of the other A-league teams as well. It's not Greenacre playing ability, it's the linking up with other players, they just don't read each other in the game. They know each others roles but not linking up which is crucial in any match. Greenarce may be suited in the closing scrappy moments of the game from off the bench than starting, when players are tired and the defence is loose.

that first few minutes rocked us a bit. didn't really recover until 80mins.

I'm glad you noticed the offside, i thought it was my eyes - it still maybe until I see it again. And yes, whoever encroached should have to apologise to us before kick off on Wednesday.

Maybe its a wake up call Greenacre needs im mean dont get me wrong i like the guy but starting costa could just say hey i need to up my game or this kid could overtake me and i could be warming the bench for the season. Maybe against the Jets on wednesday so we can rest him aswell

Some players are better in training and look like world beaters, but in a match the pressure and intense nature gets to them. On the other, there are players who train on skill rather than workrate and are lazy, but when it is needed, they lift their game up in a match situation. So they just are a bit lazy sometimes in a training run.

Yup, we were bollocks. Sydney had 3 very good chances in the first half and took all 3 of them (f**ked up a couple of sitters in the 2nd though), we had 4 or 5 very good chances and didn't do much with them.

Muscat was absolutely horrible. Siggy wasn't at his best and Leo was quiet. Saw both sides of Daniel today, the guy who we need delivering quality ball and the sook who goes over to easily and puts his head down when things dont go his way.

Ifill again was quality, closed down for the first 50 odd and then got into later. I said at about the 40 minute mark that he seemed to me limiting himself to the centre of the park today and wasn't getting the chance to run at defenders like he did last week, when Costa came on he got wide and caused absolute havoc.

I would have Costa in for Leo on Wednesday with Ifill out wide, just give Leo a break.

But as Smithy said, we were sh*t and Sydney was good. Bad day at the office lets move on!

I thought Bertos played reasonably well, Ifill was fantastic in the final quarter of the game at right mid. Lochead imo played the best ive ever seen him play.

Everyone on here finds you tiresome Steve-O.  Including me.

I've debated with you in other threads but you're a miserable f**k who revels in seeing the negative in everything.  We all knew you'd be back posting large if we lost tonight.  We've been joking about you all week.

So it's not a case of working anything out.  This isn't a deduction.  I'm just calling a numpty a numpty.

I do feel as though he needs alot more game time.....he has only played about 20 mins all season and scored once....he has been far too sheltered for my liking in his career at the NIX

That's because he doesn't have to spend all week propping Plodder up, making him feel good. Gets to concentrate on his own game.

Exactly what I was thinking.  MELB really do seem to have a horse shoe stuck up their arse as a football club.

sorry I haven't read all the way through, but the praise of lochead seems odd when we let in two incredibly soft goals to tap ins at the back post, when that was at the left back side...

is he not at fault?

Yeah i agree Lochead was poor in defence at times but he looked very comfortable on the ball. He looked very skillfull and composed.
