A big apology to my old home town, I had written you off as a bit of a one eyed pissant town (you are sister cities with Adelaide after all), but I was wrong.

19,200 to a football match.... I'll never doubt you again.

I'll never have another bad thing to say about Chch.....19,200..marvelous, extraordinary. Take a bow you good people of Canterbury.
First half was so shiite it gave shiite a bad name. Second half was heaps better. At least some more action and quite a few shots on goal. Also a bit of tension at the end with the close finish.

But TBH....I love the Phoenix and I am pleased they look like they are going to make the final but here we are at the end of the season and they look like they are in preseason mode. There is very little flow or combination. I don't think we strung together more than 3 or 4 passes. Lots of aerial stuff that was aimless and pointless. Its really only the back four that keep us in games.

We can't counter attack at speed...the midfield struggles to create. The flow from defense to attack is often aimless. i know we should not compliain but we are suppose to be on the charge into the finals and Adelaide are crap bottom and have not won for 8 games plus they were missing at least 6 of their top players. They easily could have won that.

The  people of Christchurch deserved better!!!!!!

Anyone get a picture of the crowd ?, Never been to Chch and never seen the stadium.

The post Dadi arrival period has seen long balls increase..with subsequent loss of possession and less passing out wide and runs down the flanks.  However would we have got the 6 points without Dadi..probably not so the team needs to use the different strengths it now has and mix it up more.

19279 - the biggest crowd to witness a competitive club fixture in New Zealand, and they made a mockery of Wellington's self-proclaimed title as this country's "home of football" in the process!

Well done Christchurch.

1-0

Great game, very noisy, very vocal crowd, you travelling wellington fans were great, loved every second of it.

19250 people to a football match in christchurch is amazing.

Hopefully the phoenix can play a couple of games down here next season, all the talk coming out of the match was positive and how people would go again.

Well done the phoenix and great of them to clap the crowd after the match.

Now now, I am very very happy about ChCh's crowd etc. But this self proclaimed home of football? Is ChCh now the home? I've been to a number of football matches in wellington with larger crowds than what just happened. I also would have thought that if the weather was better at the last ROF game, there would have been a healthy crowd there.

What makes me happy about this though is it is showing the football is starting to get a profile now. Hopefully NZFC don't screw this World Cup haze up like they did last time.

HOPEFULLY all this AFC and ACL nonsense can be sorted out and the Nix can stay in the A League, which could open the door for another NZ francise...but that is way down the track for the time being. Well done Christchurch. I hope my tickets I sent down there were put to good use!

Zini,
I agree we are not playing well but I put some of that down to 3 games in 8 days, significant travel, away from home and Lia being out. It's not that I think Lia is that good but his absence disrupted what was becoming a well settled line-up.

I think next week we'll see Lia back partnering Brown and tonight's back four continue to get back in to their groove.

Not too worried - with everyone available we can get back to a first choice starting 11.

Well done ChCh (and the nix).

If there is a push for another NZ team in the A-League I'd be happy with Canterbury Planes/Aquifers/Tails/whatever.  Would be a great derby.

It was a good result and 3 points but the performance was crap.
Adelaide were by far the best football team but could not score-this week or next week, nad they are bottom of the league.
If we cannot play any better than this, then we are doomed in the play offs.
We have lost other games playing much better than we played today.
I can't think of one player that really stood out.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Would you support both teams like you do with Tottenham and Newcastle?

Three for me, and two for them.
