Gate L was also access to the upper level. Security was poor, your ticket should have said Lower level and even if it didn't it wasn't to difficult to get in there. The Tui stand probably had the worst view.
We left Macs Brewbar far too late and got to the stadium about 6.55 so it was already packed.

man we were lucky to get away with tat - what a scrappy win but we'll take it.
I wish they would stop playing this long game and pass ball to feet, we seem to go for the aerial long ball too often.
That aside - fantastic turnout at the park tonight by cantabs and Yf'ers. YF - thanks for traveling down and making the atmosphere.
With a crowd & result like that  - pretty hard case not to come back this wy next season.

Did you see the guy to the right o fthe fever zone wih his shirt off, had a huge guts - hilarious, And how many people got arrested!!! what was going on!

Tell me about it, in the Tui stand a group of about 10 of us were right up the back singing, dancing taking shirts off and Red Badge were right up there looking like they wanted to start something themselves. Just let the crowd have some fun FFS.

Just got home from a BBQ at a mates place (no Sky) only to discover that the recording of the game (no My Sky) was interrupted by a booking of "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It".

Watched first 70 minutes of (F*king awful game) and was relieved to find out that ADL hadn't managed to snatch a late equaliser - but judging by their earlier lame attempts they were never going to score.

But "A record 19,258 fans"  - WOW !! Well Done you one eyed Cantabs ..and the YF faithful

hahahaha, should have come to my place for pizza and beers first, then walked to the ground like we did.
Could see the queue for tickets (for those that hadn't already bought theirs) out on Stevens Street still going 20 minutes after kick off

Absolutely brilliant night out.

I managed to drag lil sis along to the game. She had originally refused to get into the WPFC swing of things (plastic manc but im working on that), but after the game she was buzzing the whole way home and even wants a phoenix kit and a trip to welly to participate in the full yellow fever experience.

Big thanks to all the fever boys and girls who made the trip down to help boost the atmosphere.

Also I think all of Chch owes Terry, Tony and the lads a big big big thank you for bringing a game down here.

Still can't believe you didn't get your shirt off James.

Suffice to say I had my tits out and I roared at James to follow suit, but to no avail.

I went with a group of six, four of us took our shirts off.  I should mention that one of the lads with his shirt off had had an operation on his heart only a few days earlier and was still bandaged up.  Real trooper.  Unlike you James.

One of the two who was wearing a shirt was wearing my Phoenix top (now too small for me) and I told him to take it off (I sound like a grubby old man) and when he refused I tried to force him saying it was my top and I was taking it back now.  Miserable bitch still refused.  Still, 4/6 isn't bad though is it, considering they're all Phoenix virgins.

It's a bit of a worry starting the game with only 2 kiwi's.  Personally I don't care about that at all but I know others do and that will actually effect their decision as to whether or not they'll attend (pathetic, I know).

The one huge guy down the back and to the right of the feverzone was the man.  That was an impressive gut, a top bloke for sure.  Did the camera's get him does anyone know?  If so I'll record the game just for him.

With regards to the feverzone, it was far smaller than it is in Wellington (for reasonably obvious reasons) but it was damn good.  A group up the front (to the left) were continually being pricks though.  Especially one over-confident blond haired guy who was trying to get a mexican wave going.  We booed him, ofcourse, but he just stood there taking it (probably thinking it was praise) for literally a minute before he worked out what we were saying and he sat down.

But that fat guy, wow.

The 9th biggest A-League crowd of the season.

The largest crowd for a regular season match in New Zealand's history

If the AFC situations gets sorted out, Christchurch becomes a very formidable opposition for Canberra, South Coast and Wollongong for an A-League side.

Putting it in an even larger context, even though Perth Glory have been around since 1996, the highest regular season crowd was 18,037 before redevelopment at the old Perth Oval.

It defeats the highest regular season crowds ever that have been at Newcastle Jets, Central Coast Mariners, Adelaide United, North Queensland Fury, Gold Coast United as well...

This for a city of 350,000 people. FIFA, FFA, NZF will be paying very good attention on the crowd. New Zealand Football will now know they have three cities that they could very well attract a crowd for a home tie before the World Cup...

19,258 crowd. Brilliant.... and what a cliffhanger of a game; waiting with baited breath for the Phoenix to let in the equaliser in added-on time. But we got the win (and got to see Daniel on the park as well - just like old times)

Although it'd be more likely to happen up north, it would be nice for Christchurch to get this. Apart from last night it's been a few years since the last decent football match here.

Man, Tony Smith harps on about the crowd in this article. While it was an awesome crowd, someone should tell the guy that's what happens with one off games (look at the Kingz matches in Wellington)and would not happen week in week out with a team there.

Plenty of merit for a game there once a year, but calling them the Christchurch Phoenix? Steady on big fulla.....

I think the Crowd last night was fantastic and is a credit to the ChCh sporting publc.

There is, however, a big difference between a one-off crowd and week in week out support. In saying that who can begrudge Terry the extra $200k in revenue from the game and it would be hard to argue against an annual regular season fixture in ChCh.

Hopefully Wellingtonians will rise to the challenge and have a crack at the crowd record for the Mariners game.

P.S. It was good to hear Herbert acknowledge the week in week out Wellington crowd when talking about the one-off ChCh crowd - important the ChCh crowd is seen in a one-off game context and core Wellington supporters don't feel disrespected.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

agree but that size crowd exceeded everones expectations, and Tony Smith saying that their soudl be a chch phoenix - get a grip - NZ does not have the resourcs for 2 A-League teams.

A huge thanks to the Club for taking the game here, we hope to see you back here next year.

This. So much this.

If Chch had a franchise i can guarantee that they would not get higher crowd numbers than the Phoenix on average over the course of a season.

Three for me, and two for them.

lets not get into this agrument.
How about we agree that last nights attendence was fantastic, the South Island are really behind this team, the support the Phoenix get in Wellington is great - Wellington deserve to have them
