I think that is our first away win ever of more than one goal. Cool ! And 6 in a row without conceding against CCM. I love playing them now.

5. But still pretty impressive, they haven't scored against us since season 1.

Yeah, well, 6 if we include the PSC last year when we beat them 1-0 at home. But you're right, 5 in regular season.

Yup!...great win.

Really liked the way we shut them out for the last 30 mins. They barely got out of their half.

This is a good Phoenix team. They would be a VERY good team if they just worked on their accuracy.
By that I mean tidying up the little things like....not passing directly into touch (lochy x 3), by finding the man with the crosses....these guys are pro,s, there is no excuse for corners and crosses to go into no mans land on a regular basis. A little more accuracy in the last third of the field would help as well....connecting with the player making a run.

Can't complain too much coz it was a great away win. We have some good players and we play well at times. If they just could lift their overall standard....believe in themselves on attack then there is no reason they could not make top 4 this year.

Totally agree. I hope they can be more consistant and step up when needed. 7 games left

The players need to go into all 7 remaining games believing they can pick up maximum points every time they take the field.

(Playing 3 up front didn't hurt, either.)

Not sure what that CCM defender was thinking when he bobsleded Ifill for the pen.  Ridiculous tackle considering he was face away from goal.

Yep, that's why Bojic doesn't normally play CB

I couldn't believe it.  It was almost funny how stupid and unnecessary that was.

Muscat appeared to try and elbow a player towards the end.  I very much hope that wasn't the case and it was accidental.  Any chance that will be reviewed by the committee?

Good win, Ifill's 2nd goal is the type of chance we need to be creating more regularly.

Happy with the unexpected 3 points and hoping we can now go on and win v Brisbane for once! We really MUST win it.

I dont know why people think they were an unexpected 3 points. This seasons Phoenix to me havent been outplayed by anyone, even in our bad loss we were still giving as good as we got. This is the best Phoenix side yet and they never look outclassed. Despite all the draws I never go in to any match thinking we will be beaten. I think we are a really good side, hang on to the bulk of them and next season is looking really promising. Anyway, I believe we will make the top 6, we are good enough.

fair point. if those draws were loses then it would be a different story. They are just outside top 6 and with a game in hand.

If you look at the seven games to go we could take maximum points out of four of them......if we play to our full potential. We are tough to beat at home...those four home games against Roar, Fury, Adelaide and CCM are all very winable. 3 tough ones away against Perth, GC amd Melbourne....but we could still pick up points.
Compared to some other teams we have an easier end of season run. We are a good enough team. There is absolutely no reason why we can't get fourth......imagine that!!! a home semi.

Everything has come together....we have had our bad run, everyone is fit again, there is lots of compitition for places, lots of home games against weaker opposition, a good positive goal difference and just coming off a good away win.

You can answer your own question simply by looking at our record away from home.

To put it in a better light, in 20 games this year, 15 of those has given us a result.

Thats not too bad in term of the strength of the side compared to previous NZ based teams.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Yip, I'm still hoping for fourth place.

I just watched the second goal again. Quite satisfying.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
