Game is on the 31st of December.

                      Reddy
Muscat      McKain      Durante   Lochhead
                 Lia            Brown
Hearfield                                    Ifill
              Caceres
                             Barbarouses

Bench:
Crowther
Bertos
Daniel
Diego

With Muscat in Hearfield can push forward.  We can only hope he and Caceres will try harder than an absolute crap (of late) Daniel and Bertos.  Hope for more from Ifill as well.  Another solid performance from McKain would be good and hopefully now that we have a proper rightback in the team the rest of the defence won't be so exposed at times.

Far more likely for Caceres and Ifill to be swapped around. I hope it is this formation but I can't see Ricki chosing Hearfield over Bertos.

Pretty much agree with the probable swapping of Bertos and Hearfield (Herbert's probable preference - personally I'm relaxed either way).

Muscat comes straight back in to the starting 11 - not a reflection on Hearfield's performance, which I think has been very good, but rather a reflection on Hearfield's versatility. Hearfield offers both full back injury cover and is a very good AM. By picking Hearfield we can get away without having to have a back four reserve on the bench.

Daniel to the bench - he has been very ordinary lately (actually most of the last two seasons the truth be told) - but is the best option.

We must play two up front - one of which is ideally a target. Costa's too small and not strong enough on the ball to act as a target and Ifill is wasted as a target. If Caceres can play target then great. If not then I guess it has to be Ifill.

If a miracle happens and Greeny is available then Greenie in for Costa, Costa to the bench and drop one of Daniel or Diego - probably Diego.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

They have Ifill in the position I have Caceres at on the team sheet but he's almost always gravitating out to where I put him above.

If Greenacre is recovered (they said at least two weeks so it's possible isn't it?) then him and Costa up front and Caceres to the bench.

I know where you're coming from but I like Caceres - he has a mongrel determination (skill, and strength on the ball) about him we generally seem to lack - he knows where the goal is and is prepared to back himself to take defenders on - the goal he created last night was down to dogged persistence as much as anything.

I do also agree he is a good impact player off the bench.

To add a wee bit of spice ... stir the pot ... use an old sheep joke ... nay the AFC has just hit you with a big stick so be kind ... no to hell with it ... we have a jokes thread on our forum in other stuff board if you care to look...

So to liven things up a tad .... from our jokes thread...

An Australian ventriloquist visiting New Zealand, walks into a small village and sees a local sitting on his porch patting his dog. He figures he'll have a little fun.

Ventriloquist: "G'day Mate! Good looking dog, mind if I speak to him?"
New Zealander: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Aussie."
Ventriloquist: "Hello dog, how's it going mate?"
Dog: "Doin' all right"
New Zealander: (look of extreme shock)
Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?"
Dog: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a
week to play."
New Zealander: (look of utter disbelief)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your horse?"
New Zealander: "Uh, the horse doesn't talk either....I think."
Ventriloquist: "Hey horse, how's it going?"
Horse: "Cool"
New Zealander: (absolutely dumbfounded)
Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?" (pointing at the villager)
Horse: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Horse: "Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements."
New Zealander: (total look of amazement)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"

New Zealander: "The sheep's a liar"...

I still reacon Caceras is so much better when he comes off the bench he injects so much more as shown by the game against adelaide.  I think that we should have the same team with Muscat on the bench

Every time an opposition player went down under a challenge I just thought that better not be Lia.

Ricki is a good coach, he has good players left even though a few are out.  Lay down the law to them and go over the aspects of the game we're struggling in.  I'm still not expecting a good result against CCM but if we managed a win I'd be over the moon.

Here's to a Newcastle vs N. Queensland draw tonight.  That would be good for us.  That and a Gold Coast victory over Perth.

CCM have lost two on the trot at home ... But they will still be tough.
My team:
Reddy
Muscat, Durante, McKain, Lochhead
Ifill/Bertos, Brown, Lia, Caceres/Bertos
Barbarouses, Greenacre/Ifill

Subs:
Crowther
Caceres/Daniel
Hearfield
Diego

Greenacre probably won't be fit but if he is Ifill goes out wide with Bertos on the other side. If not then Ifill up front and Caceres comes in on the left. On the bench Caceres or Daniel as a wide player, Hearfield to cover defence and everywhere else, Diego as an option through the middle.

About just over a week ago they said Greenacre will be out for at least two weeks.  The next game is in about two weeks so that'll be three weeks.  Anyone reckon he'll be fixed by then?

I hope the our home game against Roar will be a at least 20k. Lets get behind ouir team the nics. They must feel like the whole world is against them (AFC prick) darkhorse2009-12-20 19:49:07

I'd be happy with a 10k+ crowd but think that will be a struggle in reality.

Trying to get a few at work to go.  hopefully they will be up for a bit of post New year cheer to wean them back into work.

Oh kids go free at the Roar as well so 10k would be good but I still can't see it. But getting off topic sorta.

tbh we need a crowd pulling player.

Freddie Ljungberg.

that would get people coming to the rof.

would be nice, but if we were to get a guest, for me it would have to be a striker. We need goals, and midfielders are all covered for

Well, I'll be there if that's any help.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

No, it wouldn't.  He'd get a write-up in the Dom Post, but the television media would leave it at, "He was football's John Kirwan" (or something equally daft).

Been out of the loop whilst moving cities. Interesting to read about Reddy coming in. How was he last game? When it comes time to play the Roar he will be amped!
