Grand result and good performance from all the team, given the conditions last night.

But I felt a bit frustrated as I headed home that while we scored 3 we should have had another 6 -0 going by the amount we dominated the game and the chances we created, just a bit more composure in the box or a bit more clinical with out final pass and we could have had another 2 or 3 goals.

Mind you their keeper had a good game which certainly helped keep the score down!!

We have now moved up a level at home, but there is still more to come from this team IMHO, it's getting exciting!!!  Bring on Perth :)

I called RadioSport last night after the game, the guys on Sports Lately mentioned the Phoenix a few times.

They liked the noise of the Fever and the crowd through the radio and TV, and talked a bit about the Phoenix and the upcoming All Whites game.

A few mentions of getting a decent crowd to the game on Sunday at 5pm, and the extra All Whites tickets going on sale tomorrow :)

Great game. we so should've put away 2 more gimmes! Cant wait to get home and watch it again. Thank Panasonic for dvd recorder.

Was it just me or did everyone get nervous when our goalie was brought into play? Does he just get the jitters?
He usually looks pretty good in warm up/practice...

Many Boys go out for an after match drink, and still make it to work?

Greenacre's contribution is a bit more subtle but he gives some lovely touches and quick balls that allow us to get forward quickly, and that goal was full of quality, looked like meat and drink for him.  Got to keep trying to get him in on goal
He made 3/4 really classy off the ball runs last nite that had our players delivered him the ball im bloody sure he would have buried a couple of them.Seems at times that they still havnt got used to some of his leads, sure hope they start giving it to him early and on the deck.

Totally agree. Countless times Greenies opened up a channel for Lochhead and others to feed, only for them to not look up and play the ball back to the back two. It's frustrating for Greenie. He doesn't typically make it as obvious as Ifill does when he feels the opportunity has been missed, but last might Greenie motioned on 3-4 occasions some degree of frustration at Lochy's inability to spot the opportunity.

THat said, a sweet move for the 2nd goal - great combination play from midfield to strikers and a clean clinical finish. Shame about the penalty, it would have been a good confidence builder.

What?  Not even after Ifill had scored the 3rd goal (and I'm not talking about the weather)?

Must say how enjoyable it has been watching your beloved Phoenix tear two teams apart in the last two home games. 9 goals to zip.....it does not get much better than that. To hear the YF going off under the stand post match and to see everyone wander home with big smiles on their faces....its been pure football Viagra!!!!

Thank you Rickie and the boys!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the game.  Got my tits out on the 80th minute and I'll be honest, my nipples were like rocks but the rest of my body didn't feel that cold.

Completely lost my voice.  I couldn't really do much by the time Ifill scored, I was all out of bellowing.  Woke up at 6 this morning with such a sore throat.

How do you ladies handle it?  Having a game every second week and screaming your lungs out?  Anyone got permanent damage?

Oh, and on fourfourtwo some of the Aussies are saying how Brown should be cited for a dive.  Firstly we didn't score so it shouldn't matter (should it?), and I'm pretty sure Topor-'ugly-hairy-mop-who-gets-shunted-from-club-to-club'-Stanley got him with a trailing boot.

I haven't seen the replay so can't comment if he dived but I don't think weather we scored should have any consequence or not. If you're going to stamp out diving you've got to stamp it out altogether.

Yeah, I'm all for them stomping out diving altogether, just the only real comments I've heard with regards to this new A-League rule is that if it's a penalty that wins a team the game then they'll ban them.

was great having another win at home - though some keystone cops type comic moments.

Lets be honest tho - Jets were terrible and couldn't have scored in a brotherl

Know it was a fiesty wind but must be becoming no brainer for the team - they are scoring the goals (in Gold Coast game too) when they play the ball on the deck into the area not these stupid - mindless crosses. All our last 9 goals from low balls passed into 18 yard area (or low shots) last night and against Gold coats - keep it Down - we are a team who like it at feet!!!

Good result - keep it going this sunday and we should move into 4th spot

yep- I saw Daniel and Lochead pull out the kind of move down the left that Smeltz used to latch on to...but none of our strikers knew what was happening...

Very impressive performance last night, in some ways I think that overall we were even better than in the Gold Coast game, in terms of making chances almost all the way through the game, and pretty good chances at that.

Putting Costa up front worked wonders with him getting 2 assists, unlucky not to score.

Glad to see we abandoned the tactic of simply getting it out wide and punting a cross in, we were much more direct, keeping the ball on the deck and playing through the centre.

If we can keep up this level of performance, at least at home, then top 6 is more than realistic. Need a bit of work on that away from still but one step at a time...

Loved the game last night, was originally going to be kept at home studying but worked my way out of it thanks to an all important Facebook status.

Bit nippy with shirts off but it was all goods. Starting to build a very very good fortress at home.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) comprising Barry Such (Chair), Brad Maloney and Simon Micallef convened to consider the following matter from the deferred Round 10 fixture of the Hyundai A-League:

  • The MRP reviewed the penalty awarded to Wellington Phoenix in the 83rd minute for possible Simulation by Tim Brown. The MRP determined that the Referee did not make an Obvious Error in awarding the penalty.

So no ban for him ?

I always thought there was contact just maybe Brown over did his fall a bit.

Yup,he took a stumbling step or two before falling over. Looked dodgy first up at the stadium though.

Allegedly

There was contact, definite penalty. It looked dodgy because it wasn't the guy running beside him that took him down but that long haired guy who was standing still but stuck out his boot and caught Brown on the shin. Not a dive.

Agree. Notable too that Topor-Stanley looked a bit sheepish and wasn't arguing with any conviction. The replay shows he threw out a leg: at the speed Brown was running it would take only minimal contact to bring him down.

Still think Ben Williams is a prat though.

I agree that the Jets were a joke, but we played quite well.
By the way there is no r in brothel.
We deserved to win, but I caution that we don't think that we are the best, which we did after the Gold Coast. Perth are not a bad side, and if we think that we just have to turn up to get the points, it will be a mistake.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Great to see that the Gold Coast match was not a one off. Another fantastic performance and result.

However, in my opinion Tim Brown dived. Hopefully we do not see any more theatrics from the Phoenix as it gives the game a bad name - especially in this country where we are trying to convert rugby fans.

Anyway, roll on Sunday. Bring on Perth!
