Having fractured my cheekbone, 6 weeks is probably optimistic. Possible, but optimistic.

Unless having it operated on quickens the recovery process.

I think it takes about 6 weeks for the bone to heal. But playing football straight after that is probably not going to happen.

I managed cricket. Football probably a bit of a different story though!

It seemed rather clear that Brockie was bracing to jump when the keeper tried to get up, and it was accidental contact.

Smith was good tonight, we had less players being hacked and lumped this week which was a positive.  I am hoping for a stronger start next weekend though.

Great stuff, didn't see the game but sounds like a performance to shut the critics up (like me!).  So pleased when I woke up and saw the result this morning. Will be interesting to see what he does next weekend with the 3 man midfield.  I think we have to keep it even though it does mean dropping a more attacking player.

I do wish Brockie had celebrated, one he had scored a couple of great goals plus he plays for us now, not them!

He should just keep with one of those phantom of the opera style see-through masks to cover half of his face

Facts after yesterdays game.

Jets are still our bitches

When we win, its always by at least a 2 goal margin and with a clean sheet

Brockie only scores goals in "twos"

Totori still excites and frustrates at the same time

Ricki should be sacked

Clarke sitting on the bench is our lucky charm. 2/2 when he is there, 0/5 when he isn't.

BLASPHEMER!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Did someone tell Snoop that 'Football' is complete different term everywhere else in the world outside the USA?

See what happen when we get a normal NZ time kick off -5 pm NZ time. This contrasts  well with 5th Nov 9.30 pm (Nzt) result.

Wait for The 24th Nov  11.45 pm NZT kick off and 10.30 pm NZT kick off on Jan 01. -Jan 5th 9.45 pm kick off.

I have wondered about that in the past. I was going to compare how we go at different kick off times in NZ, at the end of the season. It has to play some kinda effect in our away performances.

The consideration of start times turned around the Breakers and Warriors seasons a few years ago. I have not compared there start times this last season when all hell dropped. But player mindset is a big factor as well to start times.

What are the chances Spoonly gets picked up as the Jets injury replacement??

Not sure how many foreigners they have, but if they have room for one more, he must be one of the better unsigned goalkeepers around at the moment and he proved he has the potential when he came in for the Nix.

If he has an agent, he should be ringing the Jets putting his hand up.

Matt Nash will be their keeper. Spoons has no chance. Yes, Nash is their third choice keeper now, but he was their second choice keeper last season. Jack Duncan will come from their NYL team onto the bench I would expect.

Surprised brockie wasn't given the penalty for his hatrick

.great result

Not for me.  Ifill is the nominated penalty taker and buried the first one he took against MH and this one to prove that is the right option.  No room for sentiment.  Goal difference is paramount in what might very well end up a tight table come the end of the competition

Absolutely agree with this. We were at a horrid Perth game in 2009 when Eugene Dadi turned out against his old club. You'll no doubt remember what happened there. Ifill was on the field, but Dadi was determined to take the pen for all the wrong reasons,  ... and missed it. Badly.  Penalty taking needs to be totally clear of sentiment.  Very well taken pen by Ifill.

Has Ifill ever missed a penalty for the Nix? Can't remember any.

Nope, he's 8/8 (including the penalty shootout).

6 years is a long time to wait for the clubs first hat rick. Would also have done brockies confidence the world of good.

He would have had a hatrick if Totori had squared it instead of going around the keeper :)

With CCM getting their first this season, only us and the Wanderers haven't had one scored yet.

so he's had two twice- plenty more games yet this season, and I'm sure plenty of quality service. We want to be aiming to win games by two or three so...!

That is one thing he does not lack.

On the other hand I think Iffs benefitted more from a goal. Really searching for some form, a goal (even if it's a penalty) can do a player a world of good.

Newcastle Jets v Wellington Phoenix
A topsy-turvy game that left the Phoenix cheering and the Jets scratching their heads.

Possession: Jets 61% / Phoenix 39%
Tackles: Jets 15 / Phoenix 22; effectiveness: 68% / 76%
Total shots: Jets 11 / Phoenix 9; on target: 4 / 5
Completed passes: Jets 382 / Phoenix 173; accuracy: 78% / 62%
Crosses: Jets 19 / Phoenix 17; corners: 14 / 3

If anything, this game just shows you that undefinable quality that makes football such an engrossing sport above all others; Newcastle dominated in almost all the key indicators – but the numbers don’t match the 3-0 thumping Wellington delivered to their hosts.

The Jets had noticeably more possession, had more shots, and made more passes, crosses and corners – and they come out of it looking like they were seriously outplayed by the Phoenix. Football is indeed a harsh mistress!

Same old Aussies. We win 3-nil and they call it lucky. Last time I checked 3-nil wasn't a lucky win.
Sure they had more possession but they did bugger all with it.

Watched h/l with sound (no sound at pub-live) sticky grass was a problem again for the losing side.
