Ifill is the best pen taker in the comp, that's why Brockie didn't get a chance for 3 and fair enough.

Where was the red for the foul on Totori though?

Ref did well to get the yellow out ASAP so there weren't any on field complaints but it seemed pretty clear.....

Brilliant refereeing.  Didn't give red because of amazing foresight as to how Totori would react when faced with an open goal.  :)

I know, I know, its serious!

No. One good moment doesn't make up for him doing less than nothing in the rest of the games.

Not for me.  Ifill is the nominated penalty taker and buried the first one he took against MH and this one to prove that is the right option.  No room for sentiment.  Goal difference is paramount in what might very well end up a tight table come the end of the competition

So much this.
As for Totori, it was a dead set goal for Brockie, if Totori had passed to him. Greedy player.
If Totori is that quick on attack, why does he run like a f*cking carthorse when he's needed in defence?

Haha can't argue with that I guess. Stoked we were 3 up rather than 1 down when it happened.

my weekend has taken on a calm and serene glow and I wont be biting some bastards head of at work tomorrow....that said it was interesting that a red card was not shown for the tackle onTotori

i always read the match thread after watching the game

fark what a pack of b*tches you lot were today! so much whinging, one-upping and told-ya-so's... good grief

great result, season is turning around!

Bertos was good today.

Fenton was pretty pants, seems like his performances have been declining since the first game, i would take him out for huysegems next week and have brockie/ifill wide.

I like totori

A quite remarkable result considering we were not exactly brilliant but we did limit them to having very little chances. Newcastle were as bad this week as we were last week!

Crazy miss from Totori but as I said to my mate, he did more in 10 mins than Fenton did in 80 IMO and should start next week.

Is that our biggest away win ever? Have not read rest of thread so not sure if that has been mentioned.

I forgot to say that no red card for the penalty is an utterly ridiculous decision!

Yes according to Piney. Well his actual words were that this is would be the first away win by 3 goals. And I don't recall any 4 or 5 goals away winning margins (apart from the one Totori denied!)

Should Totori have been shown a red for Denying himself a Clear Goal Scoring Opportunity?

Next biggest was 2-0 away to CCM in a news years eve game in 09/10.

I  Miss beating CCM.  Still dumbfounded we didn't finish at 4-0.   Hope Birighitti is going to be ok.

Like Victory, they are down to their 3rd keeper. Looked brutal.  Would say he'd be out for a few weeks.

feel bad for him. He's always promised so much and been unlucky with that card and now that injury. Hope he recovers fast

Junior HH (aged 7 and a bit) : Totori missed a Sofa!

HH: What, son?

JHH: A sofa!

HH: What?

JHH: You know, an easy miss.

HH: I think you mean a sitter!

Could Brockie have jumped over the keeper?????????????????

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Nash was actually released by the club when they signed Birrighitti, and then signed as an injury replacement to replace Kennedy when he got injured. Awkward.

I think he was trying to. Didn't look as bad as the Football Ferns keeper who absolutely wore one at the olympics but no fractured cheek-bone for her.

Totori is still rapidly adapting to the A-League. Obviously desperate to prove himself which led to the fumbled shot.

Permalink Permalink

Perhaps we've scared the refs into giving out red cards after the Gillett episode

Looking at it a few times just now and it looks like Brockie braces (and kind of jumps) for the rebound off the keeper and when he comes down he has no time with his next step to avoid the keeper. I think that next step he is trying to go over the keeper and the knee comes up right into his face.

Fuck this stupid game

In MRP news:

Jeremy Brockie has been handed an 8 week ban by the MRP for his "challenge" on Jest goalkeeper Mark Birghitti.

Well, as far as I know you can't blow your nose properly after a cheekbone fracture operation for a month after the operation, so I have my doubts he'll be playing football in 6 weeks.
