More importantly, where is everyone meeting for a drink and a sing song pre-match?

Getting back on topic.

Does anyone know anything about the match venue at Palmy?  How many does it hold? Is it an Oval for cricket or do you get to sit close to the action?

Its a bummer the game has been moved to PN. We lose a lot of our homegame advantage by being away from the ROF. i'm sure some of the YF will be there singing their lungs out.
Most of the locals that go will be first timers to a pro football game. If that is the case then i suspect they will be your typical nZ sport crowd who will clap politely at the good bits, throw in the occasional ooh!  ahh! hardly an intimidating atmosphere for the visiting team.

I know we won't lose but if a miracle happened and sydney did win then I would be pissed off to lose our home wins record away in palmy. Does not seem fare really....its not our home ground...its more an away match.

it is an oval, it has a speedway track surrounding the field. I think it seats around 17,000 max, but don't quote me on that

Edit: Oh, and don't underestimate the amount of people from palmy who have made the trip to a Nix game.

Vanuatu must be ranked about 211.

Chen & Mulligan are AWFUL. Don't include them in the squad, they're rubbish.

That is all.

                    Paston
Hearfield McKain Durante Lochhead
               Lia       Brown
Bertos                             Caceres
           Greenacre  Ifill

Bench:
The Crow
Daniel
Barbarouses
Diego

Have assumed Sigmund will be banned.

Would rather have no defensive cover than have mulligan wasting space on the bench, so Diego gets in.

So if we have to sub off a defender we might as well capitulate huh, great thinking.

Broken record.

Capacity is 18 000 but for bigger events an extra 2 000 seats can be added.

I really hope we can get a result.  Especially against Sydney.  The last thing we need is Siggy gone for the Sydney match.  Personally I don't think we'll win it, so I'll be happy with a draw provided it differs significantly from the one against Melbourne.

I think you are underestimating the number of people that go down from Palmy to the Phoenix, although not every week (some do) a lot of people in the Palmy football community go down for 3-5 games a season.  Also your possibly underestimating the number of Wellingtonians making the trek (I hope).

You know we belong together
you and I for ever and ever
no matter where you are
you're my guiding star
and from the very first moment I saw you
I never felt such emotion
I'm walking on air
just to know that you're there
hold me in your arms
don't let me go
I want to stay forever
Home and away
with you each day
let me be the one that you turn to
someone you can rely on
closer each day
Home and away
You know we belong together...

If defender subbed off then Lia drops back and Diego slots in to midfield. Having seen Mulligan at right back what defensive cover would he have provided?

Mulligan must be crap for him not to have a start. I mean lets face it. 10 games left before play offs. When is he going to make his debut this season??, He cant even make the subs bench!!. Terry show him the door. "Yr Fired"!!

While some of us have uncharitably bagged Palmy in earlier posts (and been roundly told off for it) Palmy does have a strong football community, so hopefully it will translate into lots of locals turning up for the game.

It would be brilliant if the Palmy Army and the YF had the highest "home-and-away" crowd for the season to date. Would make an even greater incentive to get more to RoF for the last three home games.

Where's everyone gathering before the game? I'm assuming there's a YF-approved venue for pre-game drinks.

McKain will surely be back. And I'd say Greenacre will be all goods as well, he only just missed out on the Victory game I think.

Also, Daniels 30th birthday on Saturday, hopefully he pulls out a huge performance.

Musa must be out of the running as he was injury cover for McKain

I think he was just trialling and spending time with them, not registered as a player.

Better than playing in front of his family?

We also need some low hard crosses and someone running at defenders especially into box to get that other goal scoring oportunity...the penalty kick.

I think quite alot of you are forgetting that leo bertos can act as a striker if need be.

This means that we can have Iffil out wide, doing his magic, while leo can still use his pace to link up with greenacre.

Barborouses is still to inexperianced to start, good impact player tho..

I would play:

                            Paston
 Hearfield - Siggy     -      Durante -    Lochy
                   Brown    -     Leo
    Ifill                                               Daniel
                  Bertos    -    greenacre

= Amazing + first win against sydney this year

You havent seen Bertos shoot at goal or attempt to finish a chance have you..? Id very much rather switch Ifill and bertos around in your formation. Or if you want Ifill on the wing,Daniel up front even.

Siggy is also out,so would be replaced by Mckain. and am guessing Leo is Lia Tegal2009-12-07 22:34:25

Costa

Mulligan there for CM cover, so Lia can drop back for defense.

If I'm interpreting your text speak correctly...

PLEASE NO LEO UP FRONT. EVEN IF HE DID IT FOR PERTH THEY WERE PANTS AND HE SCORED PRETTY MUCH NOTHING.

Leo Bertos is not a striker. No no no. WE don't need him out there, we need to utilise his pace out wide mostly, and also as a counter attacking tool.
