Looks alright, except change Bertos and Daniel round, no point having a left footer on the right and vice versa. Looks a bit light defensively on the bench, but we don't have a lot of options.

Deigo on the bench instead of Rojas - no point having two small and inexperienced second strikers there.  Can't imagine them both on at te same time, can you?

Gould on bench, Crowther to start and Paston to organise the defence from the sidelines, unfortunately.

Though they have actually been on at the same time before, in one of the home games. Might have been the one after we played Melbourne away I think.

Right, I expect us to lose this one comfortably, but here's my squad:
                      Crowther
 Hearfield   McKain     Durante     Lochhead
            Brown            Lia
Bertos                              Daniel
                            Ifill
            Greenacre

Subs:
Gould
Caceres
Mulligan
Barbarouses

I'd like that above team or get rid of McKain to the bench and put Caceres in the midfield playing ahead of Lia and Brown and behind Bertos and Daniel.  Probably safer to keep McKain in the backs though.

Beats a loss anyday which I think is what will happen.

Wouldn't mind trying out a 3-5-2 with Ccaceres in the middle though.  Maybe re-adjust at halftime as is deemed necessary.

If Paston is out for the season, will they bring a new keeper in as cover?
Permalink Permalink
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
They should do.  The thought of Crowther playing every game with Gould as cover is absolutely mortifying.

I expect nobody of lesser quality than Almunia.

Apparently all the Phoenix playersare doing a signing session in The Square in Palmy tomorrow noonish - anyone know exactly when as might see if I can pop down

That looks like the only option for the team, subs as well. Maybe Ferrante is in front of Mulligan? Maybe not.

I think Mulligan should be bench just because he is defensive cover. Ferrante makes me feel sick.

He is not out for the season the article is misleading. But they should bring someone in for short-term cover.

We definitely need a short term cover imo. And someone very good preferably, Bozza !

Sources 'close' to the club say it could be season.

Yeah, no doubt, probably 1 or the other I'd say with Caceres/Daniel and Mulligan/Ferrante the other two.

I think he might have something here, Gould into the Team, Paston into the coaching staff working his magic. We could win this one yet!

Well the article said 4-6 weeks but your sources/sauces are probably right. However when we make the playoffs he will hopefully be back so we can win the GF.

Damn, ticket sales aren't sounding too good.  Hoping for 10 000 so will need a large walk-up crowd.

Come on Palmy, prove to us that you aren't completely useless.

Id rather Gould in goal and im not taking the mickey!! Despite his age he has to be better than Crowther. You can see it in the players they dont trust him! Hopefully the defence stands up again so we dont have to worry about a keeper!

People don't buy tickets in Palmy - never had to. They'll just rock up on the day.

Not unless it's a strip revue or stock cars

I fail to see how this indicates how we will perform any better. Unless threats have been made... "Mums were mentioned" ah... good ol black books

If they don't trust him, why the hell aren't they defending better esp past the 80th minute so that they don't have to rely on him in preventing a goal from the opposition.

My wish list for Saturday:
1. Yellow Cards for Sydney Players maybe a red too
2. Clean Sheet
3. Balmy Palmy evening
4. Good drive up and back
5. Massive Crowd (not in size but in quantity)
6. Most important - WIN FOR NIXY IN PALMY

--------Crowther--------
T-ROY--Mckain-Durrante--Lochy
------Lia-----Brown----------
Leo---------------------Daniel
--------Ifill-----------------
-------------Greenacre--------

Bench:Gould-Diego-Caceras-Costa

Omitted:(i cant shoot)Ferrante, Mulligan and Rojas

Judging by Ricki's tactics so far this year, i reckon this will be his side, although a touch short on defence so he could easily just swap Mulligan for Costa on the bench.
