Well I would  ( if I had the spare Moolah)  put say $30 on Melbourne to win

If Melb lose,  I have lost $30 but had the pleasure of seeing the Nix rise to 4th and maybe be in the finals, cheap at twice the price

If Melb win, then at least I get something back out of the ...tards

Actually I think I will raid the loose change draw and  do just that

It is a cardinal sin to bet against your own team. Never do it.

check the article on front page! Give you a hint (last line!)

That was the only choice Ricky could make. Don't think Johnson is match-fit or in much favour at the moment. Plodder hasn't really shone when he came off the bench (and until he proves me wrong, I think he's more of a full back/winger than a CM),  so who was he going to start??

I think that's not a bad idea. Ferrante has solid passing and whilst he may not be the best long-range shooter...well, nobody apart from Smeltzy really is good at this sort of things, so we just gotta pray that he'll feed the strikers.

I'd love to see the colour of the sky in Agent 47's head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you've got no issues with Thompson, Allsopp and Fabiano running at us all night and saying to Johnny Mac, 'You hold that mid field son', and thats before they bring on Hernandez????

I agree we should attack, but trying to get in a foot race against Melbourne in the scoring stakes is stupid. Our game plan has been built about have a sound defensive set. Bertos, Costa, Daniel and Smeltz have enough tricks without adding a player who is out of form and is out of position at central midfield. Plodder should have started in a holding role

The sky is fine in my head pal, I can justify my position....

With you all the way on this one Agent 47

If anyone needs a reminder think back to when Victory isolated Manny with Alsop and they had a field day, you need a solid platform.

From what Ferrante has shown this year I would back Plodder to be more constructive in the midfield anyway.whitby fever2009-01-22 21:11:05

I have been a bit dissapointed with Shane Smeltz in the last few games,he hasnt looked that sharp, thought he might have taken a shot last week when he got into the box late in the second half

Shane Smeltz, what record are you going to get this season, your last one for the phoenix.

The golden boot for most goals scored??    Tomorrow I dont care whether it is a penalty, a spectacular strike or a shove over the line with your left kneecap or any other bodily parts, just score a bloody goal or two.

Or the booby prize for the most false starts??   Currently he sits equal with Thompson for 25 offsides awarded against him, these two are well ahead. Usually there is only a split second in it between onside or offside, I sure hope his timing is going to be good at Telstra, we need him to fire for a win

Bit of a "for the two millionth time, I don't exaggerate" thing going on there. I mean, the world? Really?

I see on the A League pre view that Strebre Delovski is the ref for tomorrow night. Can anyone tell us what record he has doing our games?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

he was great the first time he reffed us,

but then the A-league took him out the back and had a word and now he's only fractionally better than Beath was last week

(someone'll give you a sensible answer OiOi)

Reminds me, I had a trainspotting question for LF1 too, but maybe someone else can answer it.

Was last week's game the first time the Phoenix have achieved a result after having a man sent off? I was trying to remember another occasion but can only think of losses.

1-1 against Sydney when Old got sent off last season.

Although I guess we dropped points in that one, were leading 1-0 before Old got the red and gave away the penalty for 1-1 in injury time.el grapadura2009-01-22 23:47:34

Oh yeah, I must've suppressed that memory. Lia or some other numbskull gave the ball away cheaply near halfway with time practically up, they poured through and Old took their guy out. I sulked for hours after that.

Technically it counts.

Archie's a Melbourne W@NKER!!!!"

"Melben, Melben

Does the council cut your hair......?????

C'MON PHOENIX........do your bit and take control of the parts you can control!!!

A resounding victory at the Dome would certainly make the Aussies stand up and take notice.....

I was sure it was Vinny Lia.

I'm sure somebody can trawl through YouTube footage and put us out of our misery.

Yup, I was down for that game. Not pleasant.

Probably Ross Aloisi's best game for us, though.

Big night.

Nice to see Ricki referring to the Storm/Warriors NRL playoff match, which was supposed to be a David vs Goliath episode, 1st vs 8th.

If we don't win, a draw seals us 5th and would probably deny Melbourne the minor premiership.
