2-1 Jest, long-range strike.

Down to 8 men.

Turning into a complete shambles.

Durante sent off down to 8 now. Sounds like the ref is losing it.

We're losing 3-1 now unsurprisingly.

It does sound as if we have created a lot of chances but obviously with 3 players sent of it is a bit of a forlorn hope.

What the hell is going on over there? 8 v 10? In a friendly? Good grief.

Full time 3-1 to Jets. Despite being down to eight a number of positives: Bertos comfortable at RB and Smith Brockie & the FSE players good

Sounds like the ref lost it.  Hope siggy dealt it out before he went off

Bit hard to judge the ref's performance given none of us have actually seen what the cards were for. It appears that in the Siggy/Mooskat/Thiago situation punches were thrown, so if true red cards should come as no surprise.

What is the status of red cards/sendings off in 'friendlies' like this? Could they be cleared in India? Do they carry over into A League? Or are they just ignored?

Did we have anyone on the ground who can give us a detailed low down on the fight? Who threw the first punch and did both manny and siggie throw blows? Christ I would have thought both would have done ok on their own

If Nix on f/b are going to use this as social media, would it not be good to give final score? They provided half time score there two hours ago, still no official final which has left some people wondering.  Just sayin' that it's a good idea to finish as you start ...

International red cards only follow through on the competition they were gained in, hopefully that also counts in the A-League. They WONT be banned from the India games regardless unless WelNix decide so, but then it would have to be something pretty serious. I'm just going to assume that because Durante was red carded the ref was shit. (Siggy and Moose-cat is something less of a shock tbf.)

Good spotting didn't see that. This too from von Egmond "It was a bit difficult for the referee as well. He is an inexperienced referee and it was a difficult game for him to officiate first off."

To be honest I'm glad he called on the two coaches after the first incident. One thing I hate is officials with no guts. Ups to that lad.

It happened right in front of us, Phoenix pressing forward, Manny cut down - it looked like he threw the 1st punch on the ground, then it was all on, people came from everywhere,, though I didnt see Siggy at all until the ref showed him the red card.

Also, bloody cold in Weston

Played a few Semi-Finals and a Grand final on that ground and I can concur...it gets farken cold there!

Well, no. If you get a red in a league match, its a 1 game league ban. Red in a champions league match, 1 game CL match ban. Red card in an international friendly, 1 international friendly ban. So...

If you get carded in a CL league game you can still play a domestic league game. If you get a red in an international friendly before a world cup, you can still play in the world cup. If you get a red in a world cup qualifier, you can still play in a friendly the next day

Preseason league friendly: nothing. Nobodies getting banned.

Throwing punches is violent conduct, so surely that will pick up some sort of punishment.

Hopefully a fine and a stern telling off from the club owners. I can't help but think that there's more to this story, I know Muscat was being hacked down a fair bit but it seems a bit of a blow out for what was essentially a trial match where the 3 red carded Phoenix lads were all pretty much guaranteed starting roles for the whole season.

Stolen from Newy forums..

Moments later second key incident that started the ruckus was Tiago going through the back of the Nix player Boyd. Wellington players were incensed as they thought the ref had been lenient. Queries were raised about inconsistency as Tiago escaped punishment yet Sigmund had been booked.
There was also complaints of a possible elbow by Tiago though I didn't see the elbow this does seem highly out of character for Tiago!!! Manny Muscat was leading the complaints and was highly agitated and despite Jobe's efforts to placate him the red mist descended on Manny.

Not long after the ball was loose and Tiago spotted Muscat coming for the ball and Tiago launched in and got him. No problems with the red. Muscat retaliated and a massive hoo haa started and the benches were almost cleared for a royal rumble like melee to ensure. Eventually order was restored. Ref pulled Tiago up first and gave a straight red. Then Sigmund and Muscat joined him. Manny then tried making a run on the most hated Maltese National in the Hunter title by a display of petulance that ruffled the partisan crowds feathers. Good thing some other Maltese National has the title under lock and key but Manny may be about to make a run for the throne if he keeps that shit up.

Ricki must have been pissed off. No comment on the match.

Sounds like some tensions between the bench staff. Also really not looking forward to that referee being an official reff next season. Lost control of a friendly in about 15 minutes.

So the ref is to blame for players behaving like prats ? Player commits foul, gets red card but our "hard men" decide that's not good enough and start throwing punches. When has players throwing punches ever been good for the game or their team ? The only good thing to come out of last nights game is Herbert's silence - normally he is far to soft on disciplinary issues - I'd to think his public silence is down to Herbert and / or the owners making it clear. behind closed doors. there is no place for lady night's bullshit at the Nix.

But whos going to hand out the punishment? The point i was making above was that the same 'league' rules dont apply for preseason. It was a FFA sanctioned match against another A-League club so FFA might find a way to fine them, but they cannot ban the Nix players from playing in any of our other upcoming friendlies, and they wont ban them for any league matches either. They'll probably just address a couple of emails to the two clubs.

If we go back to that post from the Newcastle forum, it sounds like the ref was being horribly inconsistent. Sounded like Thiago commited numerous bookable offences before finally being carded, when Siggy was not so lucky and was booked immediatly for his first offence.

yeah apparently Thiago went through the back of Tyler Boyd and Manny befoe any of this kicked off without getting a card - siggy trips someone and gets booked - bullshit. Talked to David Dome today - he was that the match and said that Manny in particular was coming in fo treatment right fom the off with little or no protection fom the ref
