Back from game.  I drove up from Pram.  Good hit out with impressive performances from Brockie and Fenton in firsat half.  Totori was very quick at times and did well I thought.  Stein contributed well and is still to reach his best I think..  Wil take time to adjust to Nix "style".  Defence needs to raise its game(although right was exposed) otherwise they might get done by Sydney..some loose balls and bit slow at times.  Second half saw wholesale changes which affected flow which resulted in early goal for the greens.  Second half got better.  Clarke is very skilful and quick of vision.  Would like to see him on bench ahead of Bertos with Ifill and Fenton starting as attacking mid if Smith and Manny can boss the defensive mid.

Attackling options look very exciting with talented youth.

Does to me but...it means I rate him ahead of Leo but then Leo is the right back so its a pipe dream.

Guess everyone who went to the game is too pissed to post a proper match report. Be nice to hear something about the game tomorrow, like who played, and where, who scored, how we looked etc.

Score was always going to be tennis-like, but let's hear how the lads went..

Well, apparently the guy from APNZ wasn't too drunk.

Open to correction but Brockie 3, Fenton, Boyd, Clarke, Heysegems.

Ifill came on at halftime...took it easy and had some deft close touches and passes.  Didnt extend himself much..bench maybe for Saturday?

Is this the most dominant pre-season we've ever had?

Don't recall a consistent drubbing of sides like we've achieved this time. In fact we often drew games against Wellington club sides in the past.

Was a good game and well worth the trip up from Wellington.

The nix were not extended at all, however I was pleased by the forward options we now have. Ricardo Clarke looks good and sharp and should be good in the short time we have him. Ifill was Ok, but a little off the pace - not surprising though considering injury.

Overall impressed with with the new signings, and should be a good season...

One note of caution, though, we were caught sleeping (again) at the start of the second half.... we have to watch that...

Hmm. Love to know the stats but used to happen a lot in previous seasons..half asleep after the H/T break, opposition scores soon after.
Loving the look of our attacking options and the youthful/experienced balance seems good too. Here we go, here we go, here we go!

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

In the 5 minutes after half time, we gave up 2 goals last season. Against CCM Rnd 5, and Jets Rnd 13.

It's the goals in the last 5 minutes of the halves that kill us. Between 40-45 we conceded 5 goals, and after the 85th minute we conceded 4 goals.

True but I'd say a significant percentage of all goals scored in the a-league are scored between 40-50 and 85-95 of game. Haven't checked anything for that but its often a trend I've observed in football.

Bit of an epic bump but around the time of the India tour,  Welnix spoke about looking arranging some friendlies overseas to extend our season. Guessing nothing came from that?

They probably thought they'd have more money after crowds of 15,000 would turn out each home game to watch attractive football

What happened to the Nix vs YF game?
