Does that help Doloras?

Rossi had the ability but was "taking the piss". We never missed him when he was not playing bacause he rarely performed. Why are we comparing with second rate players? If you want a bench mark then Reira is the player to compare with.
Riera's a good comparison but Rossi definitely was good in his first season, especially with his tactical awareness (something we missed last season)
I am with mrsmiis on this. Rossi made a difference in his first season, because after Siggy retired our back four were struggling.
Now I get the point that whatever did not rate Rossi and that he prefers Riera as benchmark. But the real issue here is that Rossi was a visa player and Riera was not. I am wary of a visa slot being taken up by a player whose commitment is not 100%. Some visa players might come here and think they wouldn't need to try very hard in order to shine in our rather average comp. They may however be caught by the relatively high speed of A-League.
Of course Riera was an import, don't know why you have the impression that he wasn't?
You are correct. He was a visa player all along.
I guess what I tried to say in that post was that I expect more from a player coming from Varese than coming to the Nix from Auckland City. However, even that is a bit suspect. I bet that on a good day, Auckland City would beat Varese. Varese is not Juventus or AC Milan.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Sounds like we are playing WSW in Sydney on Saturday 22 September as part of their season launch.

any journos want to ask if any signings are anticipated before the WSW game?
at least put out something- Rudans favourite recipes or places in Wellington or top 5 Phoenix players or most difficult player to play against or something from Kopa or Kurto about Poland or their careers or Williams or something if there's no signings

they have been doing that - have you not seen the announcements on extending sponsorship agreements?

Fans wana know about the team.
woosh
Well I'd say I'm a pretty connected fan.
I saw nothing on here and nothing in the papers. I saw something like Phoenix announce partnership with this company on FB. Thought great and didn't click.

so you don't care who the team's sponsors are? They've announced 2 or 3 new partners in the last month or so. Sponsors/partners are a massive part of the club's survival. The fact we are bringing on new ones would suggest that the owners are planning for a long future.
S7ure player signings are exciting and vital but you have to have the finances sorted to.,
Queenslander 3x a year.

No happy for them, but the headline is the whole story. The sponsors put their logo on the players, not the other way around for a reason. There's plenty of stories they could be putting out and into the media.

Have to agree. Understand the reasoning, but the general public do not care about sponsorships - especially when they are relatively meaningless ones (i.e. Rob Morrison's company)
a.haak

Actually I worked with a guy who said that he wouldn't have taken the Phoenix seriously if they didn't have SONY on their jersey. It seems odd to me but the majority of people are actually brand and commercial focused.
Total raised from Wellington Phoenix vs. Capital Football Select XI game held at Weka Park yesterday..... $6601.70

I usually try to make the Weka Park match one of the rare weekends I go back to Raumati Beach, where I grew up. This year though, I was playing lawn bowls 1min walk down the road while it was on (no, I'm not 90).
Should've done fundraising over at the bowls club, they are getting a 600-800k cash injection from another club selling up. Heck, should get Rudan to go down there to fundraise for his last import signing!

Appears de Jong and Yoo should be on that list of trialists too.
To be fair, I don't think any of us would know how anyone is tracking as games have been rare. So tomorrow's hit out will be interesting.
I'm sure Louis has benefitted from a full pre season
I'm hoping that Rudan has achieved a lot on the training pitch and has bought each player close to his potential and also bought the team together in terms of cohesion
tldr.. any chance of a stream?

Why can’t we have a winning performance and do pre-season games at the same time? Can’t wait for excuses explanation, tired from training, this and that in training. I’m in the “We are doomed!” mood.
Some tweets from the game imply that their kids are giving our firsts a torrid time.

Fans, players or both?
Starting to think the spoon is ours already. Not something I've ever thought about any team I support before.
Was Ruds a bad signing for us? Our last two managers had good contacts, not sure that he does based on who we've signed bar Taylor.
