One FIFA referee  not knowing the rules all though they all take a rules of the game test and its strict one

Referee,AR1 4th Official and VAR referee all have FIFA badge

Two FIFA referees not knowing the rules is not OK

Four FIFA officials  not knowing the laws of the game LOTG is disgraceful

I though VAR was meant to help referees, Instead it hasn't.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I'd call it a failed experiment.

Possibly because it's administered by the people it's meant to help (referees).

Maybe it's time to throw it open to a viewer vote?

Hard to call it a failed experiement when it isn't an experiment. VAR is here to stay, rightly or wrongly.

I think by and large the VAR has imoroved to the game massively, of course it's not 100% accurate and can still be improved but it's mad e a positive difference to football.

Disagree completely. There's so many instances where it just shifts the subjectivity to someone else, rather than providing a better decision. Some of the EPL calls this season have just been farcical for instance. And those that aren't farcical just often shift the controversy from the on field official to the off field one.. And the disruption of the flow of the game and spontaneous goal celebrations is annoying as fudge.  The stupid ways it's applied too are bizarre. It's meant to overturn clear and obvious errors but is pinging people for half a toenail being offside at the point the ball may or may not have been played to them. But then for instance it doesn't get used to correct the indirect free kick in this game which should have been a penalty. The whole thing is bullshark and I hate it and I wish it goes away and never comes back

I agree that VAR hasn't worked well in the EPL so far - but it's new to the competition so give it time.

I mainly watch A-League and Serie A and I've seen a lot of incorrect decisions being overturned which makes for a more fair game, especially in Italy where bigger clubs (read: Juventus!) often get the benefit of the doubt.

It does interrupt the flow of the game, but if it this means a penalty is awarded or goal disallowed (correctly), then I'm all for it.

I don't watch much Serie A these days so can't comment but I don't think it's worked well in the A League so far. Between EPL, A League, and the Men's and Women's World Cups I think I've seen enough VAR now to have a sample size big enough to pass judgement on the concept as a whole

I don't deny that on many occasions it corrects bad calls, but I don't think it does that often enough to justify the imposition on the flow of the game. And an incorrect or inexplicable VAR decision is way more frustrating than a ref missing something on the field. I like the goal line technology because it's unambiguous and unobtrusive but VAR is the opposite. It's meant to reduce howlers but its created just as many, and half the time it's used to address marginal calls that could have gone either way

Totally agree with the bit in bold. There really shouldn't be any instances of that (as we've seen just over a week ago)...
