I agree that VAR hasn't worked well in the EPL so far - but it's new to the competition so give it time.
I mainly watch A-League and Serie A and I've seen a lot of incorrect decisions being overturned which makes for a more fair game, especially in Italy where bigger clubs (read: Juventus!) often get the benefit of the doubt.
It does interrupt the flow of the game, but if it this means a penalty is awarded or goal disallowed (correctly), then I'm all for it.
I don't watch much Serie A these days so can't comment but I don't think it's worked well in the A League so far. Between EPL, A League, and the Men's and Women's World Cups I think I've seen enough VAR now to have a sample size big enough to pass judgement on the concept as a whole
I don't deny that on many occasions it corrects bad calls, but I don't think it does that often enough to justify the imposition on the flow of the game. And an incorrect or inexplicable VAR decision is way more frustrating than a ref missing something on the field. I like the goal line technology because it's unambiguous and unobtrusive but VAR is the opposite. It's meant to reduce howlers but its created just as many, and half the time it's used to address marginal calls that could have gone either way
