Start with experience and bring in the young guns later to run circles around the geriatric defenders to punish them even more.

If it motivates the Nix players and fans to get up for a win, then it's all good.

Durante as a club legend leaving to play for the OPPOSITION reminds me of Manchester United legend Denis Law who did the almost unforgivable and joined Manchester City for his last season before retiring.

He started most of City's games in that final 1973-74 season and fate dictated that he scored the only goal against United at Old Trafford on the final day of the season with a cheeky back-heel.  United's survival in the top division depended on that final round of matches and it looked to United supporters that Law had relegated them. Pitch invasions followed and the game was abandoned with the result eventually still standing after review. In fact, other results meant that United would have been relegated whatever their result.

N.B. Reverse jinx also intended by referencing that analogy!!!

It'll be nice this season if we finish near the top of the table and Western at the bottom end....

Anyone can use the car parking but its cheaper for season members. Its too close to kick off to pre-purchase the tickets from Ticketek, so you will have to pay at the entrance

Before and after the game whatever your opinion of him his ought to stay the same. Not gonna lie, I like him.
but for the 90 mins, boos and hisses and jeers are the order of the day.

That plus walk ups, and that is a very decent!

15k would be fantastic.

Pretty much this. From memory PAX includes stadium members too and obviously not all of those go to the games.

Appiah on the bench for WUN, they never announced they signed him.

Bit scared with this team to be honest. Not one attacking player in there I'd yet trust to bury a 1on1

WUs line up is a little scary to be honest. Unlike us, they have 4-5 game changing players.

Fingers crossed.

Conversely, I'm quite excited by that lineup, and seeing what we bring to the table. Steinmann and Rufer to control the midfield and providing a good platform for Davila, Ball, McCowatt and Sotirio to show us what they can do.

Will be brilliant for team confidence if we can grab a goal early and apply the blowtorch to those older legs in the Bitumen lineup.

What's the guts with piscope. First player we have ever forked out some coin on and on the bench?

Is he not match fit?

Or not rated?

Pleased that McCowatt is playing but thought it would have been at the expense of sotiro

With only four players in their XI under 30 (youngest being Chapman at 24), WU's starting average age is 31.3. Conversely, ours is 25.7, with only one player over 30 (Taylor).

I know it's the first game of the season, but surely legs over 90 minutes will come into play at some stage.

Kone, Diamanti and McDonald will be 3 of the best in the league - will be interesting to see how we handle it. None of them rely on pace, so that's something at least

Really long queues outside for people collecting tickets. Unfortunate.

Permalink Permalink

seriously doubt McDonald's abilities have held up to the point where he'll be effective in the A-League. Kone and Diamanti is an absolutely quality duo however

I would have worried about McDonald 2 years ago, not now!

Looks like the coverage has stepped up a notch... on field chats to players as they warm up etc.
