After being pretty pissed off and frustrated at the end of that game I now think that, as most people are saying, we actually played pretty darn well (finishing aside) and were a bit unlucky not to win that. There was some terrific passing in patches there, particularly anything that Roly had a hand in.

I guess the disappointment mainly came from my expectations for this game based on the fact that we had 8 goals in 2, and the Mariners had won only 1 game all season. But this result just shows that especially in a salary-capped league you can't take any points for granted. Good lesson I suppose.

Yeah, we played well. Yes it was not our night. We attacked down both sides and the middle, had moments of briliance, we just needed that final touch that was lacking tonight. Maybe it was the weather conditions, maybe it was exhaustion, who knows. Overall, everything is loking up and all this yalk of we need a striker is bs. If we got a striker who would you take out of the team with the way they are playing now?

we joked about that. Aguy in aisle 410 won it. Probably a first time attendee. He wasn't wearing any Nix colours.

I would actually like to hear peoples answers to this as I was wondering it myself. Since we appear to be playing a false 9 right now the player to make way would have to be McG would it not? Other than that McG would have to move out onto the wing where hes not at his best. Why would we take our best players in a team that seems to be playing well and start shuffling them around just to get an out and out striker on the field? Off tonights display I honestly think we would be better off looking for a goal keeper right now!

Moss is a decent shot stopper that punches too much for my liking. He had a reasonable game but I think we could get a better one. Just my opinion.

Yes another striker creates issues in an injury free environment, but it's maybe more having a game changer on the bench. We don't have that now Krishna is a starter. Was at Eden Park. Never seen a Phoenix side play like this. And the pace was electrifying.

Good question..if it was a free scoring class striker Roy goes but style changes are needed.  It would have to be back to 442..or drop Alex and go 433 but that would need a better right back.  Maybe its just striker rotation and using subs more.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Yeah I was sitting there wondering who on the bench Ernie could turn to to try and change the game. The truth being that there wasn't anyone that you could rely on. As much as I like Brockie and think he's a good player for a certain style of team having Boyd on the bench would do better for us.

We arguably have a better one in Italiano.  In saying that, besides the obvious gaff for the goal, I thought Moss played okay.

A couple more of those spills though and we might find a change of keeper.

Sometimes you play way better than the opposition but you can''t beat them, that's just football. There's no need to drastically change anything just because we had one game where we didn't finish our chances.

One thing that pissed me of though was our delivery from set pieces. We don't exactly have a lot of big guys to aim at, but I feel we can do better than these hanging balls to the far post every time.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

who gives two sharks what the strip looks like, if commercially wearing that strip helped the nix's finance in some way then great.

Was an interesting game, felt we were the better team. CCM came to park the bus and score off the counter which is what they did.

A lot of the time I saw five players across the back for CCM and whenever a Nix player turned inside he ran into 3-4 CCM players as they had flooded the middle.

Finishing let us down, but we were better than CCM.

Two things disappointed in was the refereeing, felt should have been more cards, CCM were good and disrupting our players with dirty play and second as mention below was our free kicks, we had no idea what to do when we had one near the box and none of them really looked dangerous until the one WeeMac actually hit straight at goal instead of trying to lob in.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Cunningham should be a game changer but he is just playing so poorly. I would probably drop Cunningham ahead of Brockie. I agree that Boyd needs to be given a chance.

I think they mostly kept the integrity of our usual away kit at least. It wasn't so over the top as I was worried it would be. That did make the shirts a little lamer than people expected - but I thought they were ok, without being great.

I liked it.

Not tacky, similar to usual away strip as Tegal says, and the Hobbit theme summed up our game: Very busy for the whole time, lots of creativity, but in the end came up a little ... short.

So skimming over the posts the conclusion I'm drawing about the crowd is that firstly it was piss poor, and secondly, it consisted of a bunch of drunken assholes who had some weird English Premier League rivalry that they insisted on displaying to demonstrate that they were real football fans. Whuuuuut?

This is why we need another A-League team in NZ.

No relegation in the A league. North Wellington would fit right in.
