We had great success with giving tickets to Star Jam for the Waikato game, so again if you can't make this game please email me your tickets and we can pass them on to the charity. Email matt at yellowfever.co.nz

I might well be driving up to this game instead of the bus - waiting for some news on that front. If one, two or three of you want to travel with moi, I will be driving back after the game too. a donation towards petrol is appreciated and the rules are, no smoking or drinking or throwing up inside the vehicle. My kids travel in it on other occassions. Will do the odd piss stop if required though and a choker...er smoke break as well if required. PM me no later than Tuesday 12:35PM please. Because if some do need a lift then I wont book my bus ticket.

Getting from Mt Smart to Britomart after the game in 45 minutes is the only concern and we all know what Auckland traffic is like after a game - they keep telling the rest of us they need more motorways etc.

Between Penrose and Britomart you'll be fine and they are reliable in my experience. The assaults happened further south in a much worse part of town.

Cheers. Looks like the bus trip could be on.

May I recommend the train?

From Penrose station to Britomart takes less than twenty minutes. Game finishes circa 9.20pm, train departs Penrose at 9.52pm, you arrive at Britomart at 10.10pm.

Thanks JR. How much of a walk from station to stadium?

less than 10 minutes.

Also there are a couple of decent bars in Ellerslie which is just one train stop up the line from Mt Smart - excellent place for pre-drinks if your worried about getting from CBD to the game in time.

No we don't. We want more trains, busways and light rail. It's those country bumpkins in the National government who want to put more motorways through Auckland so they can get to their baches at Omaha quicker.

With its original design with light rail all along it? Please!

We need mass and rapid transit. Any motorway built will just fill up. Ring roads are handy and all, but they are a task that can't be completed. They never keep up. Auckland grew by 43,000 people last year.

As I recall it was also Helen who committed to the then most costly Motorway project in the countries History with the building of the Waterview Connection / tunnels , but hey if it doesn't fit your narrative ......

I hope the boys have been bus-y train-ing really hard this week. That and being driven to succeed are key on the road to reaching our destination at the top of the table

Auckland's trains are really shiny these days - at least as good performance and comfort as Wellington's Matangis (even given occasional issues with teenagers starting fights on them). There may well even be extra trains after the game, as well as the buses which will be laid on from the stadium. Trains stop to and from Britomart from here.

Yeah but it's miles away and not easy to get to.

Looks like we'll just go to the closes bar - Oak Tavern in Penrose. Just trying to confirm whether they have any christmas functions to rule them out.

Incidentally, can we have a new thread for "For/against Home-Away Games"? Aka "Angry about the Travelling Circus", or "I'd rather we were playing at Newtown Park than Mt Smart".

They did this last year at QBE, when we wore Grey and Victory wore white. If you're trying to grow a brand around NZ why wear a different kit?
