On the 6k/10k thing.

The graphics guy screwed up and accidentally put the slide from the game against Brisbane this season up. The attendance shown was the exact attendance at that game.

This was corrected and 10k was the actual number of People In The Ground.

I guess my fear is that we are too easy to work out. What you need to do is make sure your defensive mids don't give Roly any chance to turn on the ball. If you can achieve that we basically seem to be reliant on long balls to Krishna.

i think we are way too predictable.especially at home you have to have a little urgency to get at them. I could read what was going to happen ,so you can bet your life sydney could. Fenton was so predictable it was dire. What the point of knocking the ball along the back line for 5 mins is, before eventually getting moss to hoof it downfield, well i have no idea.and eternal long goal kicks where we know we are coughing up possession. Rarely did we manage the 2 or 3 quick passes that can open up defences.

This caused us some angst. We have a 'guess the crowd' contest and had already paid out our prize after the first figure...    Such is life.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Change your "metrics" then Dairy and make up the rules as you go. Seems to be a new trend I believe.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Or he put the correct figure up and Dome said shark, we better get that increased.

No way that crowd was 10k unless at least 2000 were in the corporate boxes or concourse for the entire match.

A crowd of 10 means that there is effectively 1 person in every 3rd seat. No way. And the fact that it  was just over the 10k at 10,027. Sorry but someone is having a laugh here

Because we have Tom Doyle.

I guess we COULD go for the controversial 2 centre backs and two left backs formation. That might work.

But if we go with your implied theory of playing Danaskos at Left Back, then do we play Doyle at Right Back?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Thank you for enforcing the point that Ernie made twice and others can't pick up SJ

After the game Ernie was livid (in his own way) at Doyle's yellow card and suspension.

Did he know by then that Rufer broke his leg against the TeeDubs?

That would explain his comments about Tom Doyle being "prone" to silly yellows.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

TeeDubs game was Sunday and as Rufer got a yellow for the tackle where he broke his leg he wasn't an innocent party.

The point I was making is that we are now a defender short, not that Rufer was an innocent party.

But as it is Ernie may rightfully say to Tom Doyle "this is what happens, so we can't afford to lose another player through a silly yellow".

If they hadn't accidentally put up the 6k sign do you think you would have doubted 10k?

Surely the FFA get the proper information so faking the metrics would do nothing.

Yup.

And looking at other crouds and reported figures it seems we have just been slow to get on board the inflating the metrics

Not trying to throw my hat into the conspiracy theories ring, but I initially sat behind the Sky Blues bay and looking at the crowd from the other side it looked tiny.  A nice spread of people, but there was a lot of yellow in between supporters.

When the numbers came up under 7k didn't surprise me (though it disappointed me), but 10k made me say "Really?".

I might not be able to guess for shark, or maybe when I looked a lot of people had popped out for a feed/toilet break.  Or maybe I'm just shark at guesstimating and we did have over 10k.  But I'm not shocked people are skeptical.

Each bay between Aisle entries holds a rough 1000 so a quick count by combinations of partial bays gave me 9k so when 6k came up. I thought mistake straight away.

The stadium seats 34 500 looked like there was 10k there

Permalink Permalink

First thing I thought when TV showed the stadium --- looks like a good crowd.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Bars were busy, concourse was full, it looked busy along the whole east side, not a lot of spare room, clearly one of our bigger crowds.

It was 10k. If we were going to lie about the crowd... remember that time we needed 10k for someone to win $10k. We ended up with like  9,967 or something like that, they still gave out the prize. They didn't lie then even for about 50 more people. I do not believe they would add a few thousand now. Also I though 10k looked about right. Last game was 13,600. that's a big difference which I think is why people are confused

That's fair.  Dropping that 3k may have skewed my (admittedly hardly scientific) ability to judge the numbers.

Despite some injuries and being on the road. I think we are about to hit real form. These two away games are very winnable. Then we get some home games. Calling it now, we'll start climbing the ladder now
