First Nix game to be broadcast on free to air TV in Australia.

Also, if we don't lose, the Heart will set a record for the number of winless games at the start of the season, surpassing Glory's 11.

Kewell will be out with whiplash after opening Christmas presents to fast.

Even Brocks and Stein will be able to give Kewl shit about his penalty

Do not see why not. The ducks may have finally lined up all in one row.
We were not that far off against the CCM last Thursday night, save for a couple of obvious lapses (gifting a goal - Siggy, not converting a penalty- Stein, missing a sitter - Brockie). But CCM are a better team than Heart, despite their slight slump right now (I expected a more evenly balanced against WSW last night yet it was a clear case of WSW supremacy). So I would say we have a slight advantage.

Let's win it for Paul.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Would think we will stick with 4-3-1-2, with Brockie coming in for Ifill. Boyd to get the bench spot.

Not sure if Ernie is a big Brockie fan anymore. His comments about Brockie only turning up for a few minutes per game to try  score plus him saying that we will recruit a couple of goal scorers in January kind of point to him looking at alternatives.

But Brockie will probably get a start in this game as there are not too many alternatives. Boyd is still some way off being a true A-league player. But at 18 he still has time to develop. The last few games Boyd has come on he has got himself involved and been busy. I reckon Brockie needs a big game against the Heart or he could find himself doing a lot of bench warming.

Yeah Brockie needs a bucketful.

Both teams have to win.

Big game coming up.

Has anyone compared Heart lineup this season to last season's? I am curious if they had any massive changes that would cause them the wobbles, or is it just their slow slide since van't Schipp left the coaching post and Milicic went to WSW.  If all of their trouble is due to  Johnny Aloisi's steep learning curve as a coach then I'd say we are in for a win despite Paul Ifill's absence. He (Aloisi) does not seem to have new tricks up his sleeve anymore, short of letting Kewell prove himself as a valid proposition.

good call. This is the domain of JD, El Grap, RR, TermX and Austin for smart analysis

Huge game this. Really need our chances to go in because they will see us as a good chance for points too and 1 goal does not mean our finishing troubles are over

Fuck this stupid game

I'd like to get all starry eyed and say we are going to beat Heart but then I remember that we have never, ever won in Melbourne.

Sort of game we used to lose. Get a good home win, then stuff it up next game away. Has always prevented Phoenix home crowds building. Failure to win back to back. So a real test to see where Ernie has this side.

We'll have to be up for it, as this will be Aloisi's last chance with Heart, with new owners in. Chance for Brockie to come right, which I think he will. But am bogged down by years of inept away performances under RH, and failure of this club to win away games that they really should win.

What new owners? I must have missed this.

Our away form this year has been decent from a performance point of view. No results though.

Considering we have lost Ifill yet we won last week, it would be reasonable if you were a fence sitter on this one.

Heart are shit though

Jesus the club is valued that high? I would have thought when you consider that the squad is paid for by the HAL salary cap, what are you buying? If they are $9m, what is the Phoenix worth?

Definitely a lot of changes since last year. They released a number of ageing players who played quite a bit last year.

That's an interesting question...assets of the club would be few. I'd imagine the value of the club would be in (off top of my head):

Players' contracts (you can sell them overseas anyway).
HAL licence.
Sponsorship contracts.
A small number of fixed assets.
A dubious amount of goodwill.

I can't think of anything much else that the club might have of value?

BTW this game is a day of reckoning for El Grapadura who has been saying for ages that the Heart are better than we are.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Gotta win this if we are to have any chance of climbing the table. Hope we attack the shit out of  them. Play like we did against Sydney and we have every chance of taking three points.

Really? I thought the match against Sydney was one of our worst in recent weeks.

I hope it comes right, but it seems our strikers are like rabbits in headlights, and without Ifill I fear it will be worse.

To be honest our strikers finishing was still pants with ifill
