Conans point is fair enough. I guess where im comming from is moral in the squad is possibly low ( im making assumptions here and i might be wrong), and if that is correct, it might be better to do something asap to try and lift it even if it doesnt work straightaway, hence my theory of playing Burns off the bench. But yes, it may not work being different coach new system etc , but if he does manage to lay off a good assist to create a goal or even get a goal, I think its worth the risk .
Without a proper pre-season or at least a couple of weeks of fitness work, it's likely throwing him in too early will just get him injured.
He's been training at his previous club for the last 6 months...
He's already been through preseason and he's likely to be fit enough.
The J-League ended December 1 so Burns hasn't even been training since then (until he arrived in Wellington last week).
I wouldn't exect too much of Burns initially - he' started one game in the last 17 months - 26/4/17 in the J-League Cup for FC Tokyo when he was dragged after 21 minutes.
Before that his last start was 22 July 2016 (J-League FC Tokyo vs. Kawasaki Frontale).
Since that start he has made just eight sub appearances (and the one start when he was dragged), mostly afer the 80th minute - and that was when he was fit and available at FC Tokyo.
There's also his long history of injuries to consider (Burns has only played 128 league games in his 12 year senior career).
Although signed by Sanfrecce Hiroshima in July 2017, he failed to make any appearances for a team which narrowly avoided relegation - so must have been injured most of that time?
