Amazing, our goal diff is third best in the league after that.

1) Hernandez was pissed at being subbed but when he sat down they stuck an ice pack on his lower right leg I believe. Or it may have been his left one.

2) On the crutches at half time was Ifill.

3) Well done YF zone for a much improved performance tonight. We too in Aisle 12 were in the mood and gave it heaps for a lot of the game. Got in a few verses of "You're not singing any more" to the Victory fans after wed scored a couple. We also got Kevin Muscat a serving of "Kevin, Kevin what's the score when he returned for the second half. I know a bit premature but he heard us...one could tell as he turned away from us. Also Tyler acknowledged us when he came off so we know they can here us down on the benches.

4) Alround superb effort from the entire team, Riera or Boxall for my motm. I'd use the same starting line up at our next game and see how they go.

5) I thought the ref was ok, he tried to let the game flow and although there was about 4 dodgy call they were to both sides instead of all against us like Matt Gillette. I dont think it was an intentionally dirty game but one played with passion. Ballane said earlier someone was going to get tonked and I believe the general feeling amongst fans was also exactly that. Tonight we saw such a tonking. About time. Got the T Box already set up to get the replay having forgotten to get the live version.

6) Classic moments on the radio too. Piney, " I wonder what the two Costa Ricans can show us what they do in tight spaces" or words to that effect. Claasic Piney and there was one other comment that could have been taken the nauhy way too. It's bloody brilliant listening to them on the radio, whilst shouting ones lungs out and witnessing some absolutely entertaining football.

Fucken A!!!!

Saw him limping after the game so suspect he had a slight niggle, and best not to push it when you're 3-0 up.

Limping? Sure that wasn't Cunningham/Ifill - the one on crutches at half time?

Pretty sure it was Hernandez. Heard he had an icepack on his hammy after getting subbed off as well. Could be wrong though.

He looked super pissed off getting subbed. That tells me he probably wasn't injured. If you're injured you come off and that's it, you don't try argue with the coach about it. Will be interested to know more on this.

Surely if he came off that soon after halftime he'd been told it was probably coming?

That's assuming it wasn't an injury, which I still think it might have been.

It was certainly a tactical sub and Carlos was pissed. No handshakes between him and the coach. I could only assume that at 3-0 Ernie thought the playmaker can rest and younger legs that can run more was required

Hernandez is not playing next game. Made sense to me, we needed to see Riddenton

Great performance by the team and the crowd (especially the hot brunette in the black lacy bra they kept showing on the tv). Just got rung up by a very hammered Thommo on the number 2 back to Miramar - here's hoping he wears that terrible white trilby every week

Carlos and Kenny for the World Cup, btw? Neither seem first-choice for Costa Rica, but they must be in the running, right? Tonight can't hurt their chances.

You all realise that tonight Lia received his first yellow card for this season?

Can anyone tell me what number of home A League games this one was including playoff games for us? I'm not sure if it is 89 or 90? I know I havent missed one but I am trying to get to 100 in a row. This should happen next season.

Both are out for next week as they have been called up for the C.Rica squad. Not a window but Ernie says it's the right thing to do

How good was Boxall, eh?

I mean the whole team was great, but the Victory were just bouncing off the big man.

Riera also was brilliant , his only mistake was that he should have clattered the Victory once or twice when they broke away. Now he's being too circumspect.

I cant wait to watch the replay, if only to see Muscats face

walked right in front of us towards the signing area after the game, was visibly and obviously limping. still, didnt look happy when he came off. maybe because of the injury rather than the coach.

Except he was quite obviously nursing an injury because they put an icepack on him and he was limping...?
Apart from that, definitely tactical.

Nah- it doesn't feel that this was getting out of 3rd gear yet maan- honest...feel like we controlled possesion and they couldn't get the ball, but that we weren't 100% in synch on attack...

Boxall has been a real find.

fuckn aye!
I'm sorry I doubted the attacking power of Boxall- he's also bloody hard to shake off the ball when he's not doing his power surges...as well as being good in the air. Definitely one of our top 11 footballers- thinking back to the knock down he provided for that goal early on in our season too.
been surprised he hasn't featured that much as he seemed to be good for AWs and have good pedigree. Perhaps he may look to go back overseas? Europe or back to the MLS or somewhere? As loathe as I would be to lose him from a Phoenix point of view, from an NZ football point of view I'd love him to get the chance to get into a higher league. Well I guess let's see if we can win the title first...!!

This. We've been waiting for Carlos and Kenny to justify their import status. Last two games they have. They coulda done it sooner and scored a few, but better late than never! Here's hoping they keep on doing it.

Stuff KDC, when does Gareth's political party launch? (this may be rescinded if we don't win every game from here on in, the league, the title, and if we ever miss an open goal again)

Yeah at 1 - 0

Gee, I'm sure Ricki was coach when we beat Gold Coast 6-0. Short memories, or just easy pickings?

Yep, and not to bag Ricki, but as a team we scored four goals at the end of the halves and didn't concede then. That shows a new mentality and strength in the side.

Ernie 10/10.  Who's worried about the high line now?  In Ernie we trust.

I thought we sat deeper in the first half - allowed us to get back for Kosta's dangerous runs.

Second half did seem to be higher.

Also Manny sat deeper for most of the game?

I felt we seemed to get forward through Boxall a lot, but not so much through Manny.

Riera is on 4 cards. One more equals suspension. You could see him praying on TV at one pointing and thankful he never got booked

And I'm only here when we win because I care not for emo crap, and even less for MVFC forum-style sweary emo crap.

I missed the game due to playing a gig, but got the result just before I went on and I did a great show. :)

90 kilos of power, pace and clear footbaling ability - for a guy who's played CB all his career to now look relatively composed as an RB is huge!

Riera's decision not to clatter anyone was a good one, given we're without Cunningham and Hernandez next week. Boxall having a RB string to his CB bow will make him appealing to many - but hopefully we can win the A league next season before he has another shot overseas. We haven't won anything yet, something Ernie stressed postmatch too. But a top side in the making for sure.

Thanks.
