Lia to bench? Shurely some mistake. Roly to bench. Wake his ideas up. He can't be the next KFCarlos thinking he's too good for the team.

I hope this is sarcasm. If not, a ban is in order.

A ban? WTF? Was I the only one who noticed Roly giving Headscarf Polenz a free run for most of the day, and being directly responsible for their first goal thereby?

I know some of you weasels just don't like me, but jeez, a ban?

Tends to hover in the middle third of the park, becomes involved a lot when opposition turnover the ball.

A fan is a fan.

The guy just came back from injury and has been our best player all season. And you want to drop him after he had a below-par performance pretty obviously caused by a lack of fitness. Cmon.

Was joking about the ban, obviously. Just seems like a silly comment.

heh - I personally thought that Durante and Siggy were the ones 'directly' responsible for their first goal, considering they were both outjumped.

Also note how Muscat was being caught upfield far too often contributing to Polenz' ability to be getting in advanced areas. Bonevacia works hard, does alot of running. Vince (Vinichi) Lia does not.

Lochhead and Lia were not scapegoats, They're both just players who are not great, and their lack of ability to go with effort shows them up in the public eye. Lia needs to work on his passing, his marking and first touch. Also not turning the ball over so often would help.

I've supported teams playing teams on horrendous runs before - suffice to say it's usually my team that is defeated to end said run. Please don't let that happen on Sunday!

If you host it will they come?

The extent of how much west is in the Western Sydney Wanderers gets a test on Sunday when the Wanderers host the Wellington Phoenix in Penrith. While it sounds like a shot in the so-called war between the codes (Penrith, of course, being the home of the NRL’s Panthers) the Panthers are hosting the Wanderers at their home ground, and they are happy to be doing it. (So it’s nothing like when the Wilsons call you from out of the blue and say ‘Hey! We’re in the area, do you mind if we drop in?!’ and you, thinking of all the things you’d rather be doing than entertaining the Wilsons, like drinking arsenic, say, through gritted teeth, ‘Sure thing, sounds wonderful’.)

Indeed, back in 2013, when the Wanderers had all the momentum of an elephant in a bobsled, the Panthers registered their interest with FFA in regards to buying a stake in the new A-League club, in large part to increase their chances of getting funding for the building a new stadium in Penrith. Penrith’s bid was knocked back but the Panthers are still searching for funding and a relationship with the Wanderers (who are co-tenants at Parramatta Stadium with Penrith’s arch rivals, the Parramatta Eels) is seen to be beneficial in this aim.

The Wanderers see the benefits in it too, of course, which is why they floated the idea in the first place. About 50% of their membership base is located in the vast red-roofed tundra west of Parramatta so they’ll be hoping the shorter commute to game day will be well received by the locals. Yes, it’s a shame the Wanderers aren’t exactly in top form and, yes, there’s a long commute for Wellington fans from, ah, Bondi, but any effort to take the game to the people should be applauded. And, the Wanderers will be hoping, rewarded.

43 degrees. Temp on centre court at Auckland's Stanley Street as announced by the MC the day I was there for the Heineken. The match lasted almost exactly an hour and a half. Tho they did sit down a lot. And ball boys fetched their balls.

I once played a pre-season friendly in 43c heat at 7pm on a lovely February evening. Lost about 3kgs and got drunk off one can of VB afterwards!

Those were the days...

It will hotter when you get there. Not pleasant. Hope you have a hat and sun block, or even better you are not sitting in the sun.
