YES!!

you get a few nice summer Saturday nights in Welly with a bit marketing spend ages before the game and coming off winning 4 out of 6 and then get back to me about the crowd. Love the atmosphere in Wellington. It is a Wellington club. To go for weeks without a game in Wellington is BS.

In complete agreement.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Carlos is hobbling a bit. That's a worry.

Another cynical trip from Djite, but he doesn't have a card.

Fuck. Good kid who scored though.

Fuck sakes. Was just thinking how good our defensive shape was looking. If we hold on here we are lucky. Should have scored more. Brockie didn't add much.

Aren't you living in London? Maybe you haven't been in NZ recently enough to remember what summer is...

Yep, as another poster said earlier, he's playing for a shot at a WC spot. Good for the Phoenix.

I'll take that. Not happy with the discipline but playing against those niggly whinging pricks probably makes it excusable

Me too. And yes, very nice work lads. Clinical.

Awful, awful last half hour.

Very strange subs again, Ive no idea why Hernandez wasn't the first off - it meant that none of our subs really gave us that boost we were looking for.

Hernandez and Cunningham were great though, as was Lia in a less showy way. And Durante and Sigmund hardly put a foot wrong.

A great result at the end of the day

Kenny played great MOM, very annoyed about the final goal, we deserved a clean sheet.  Bad call bringing on Brockie, not the player he was, can't see his form being good enough for a ticket to Japan as things stand.

Like Brockie, want to see a bit more from him. Should have been more of a threat on the three chances he got there.

Think though that Kenny is starting to become a bit of Merrick's Ifill- we missed a lot of chances, but he's spare our blushes with a brilliant individual goal.

Thought Boyd looked good, happy for him to keep starting. Krishna would have to show a lot more to get ahead of him there.

Would like to have seen Ridenton. Carlos was hobbling around and slowing down our game for the last 5 minutes. I think with a fresh player linking the play we might have scored. That move where Carlos picked up his yellow was simply because he was too puffed to win that ball on the edge of the box.

Anyway- great to have a win over Adelaide. Dislike Djite and Jeronimo. Didn't mind their Dodd-era team, when they weren't smashing us. Be great to finish ahead of them.

Oh and how amazing is Reira. I think we'd defintely lost without him. Shut down attack after attack through the centre. An immense, immense player.

And Nix are out of ninth place. If Newcastle lose or draw next against WSW we will stay eighth this round

I'm positive things will go wrong.

Kenny had a great game MOM.  Last 20 minutes were poor by both teams.  Disappointed that we conceded at the end but great to get another 3 points and move up the table

Permalink Permalink

3 points - priceless

Cunningham - excellent

First half - decent

Second half - painful

Eden Park - shit

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Thats a very good point, he has often failed to stand up for the AWs, Newcastle, Knights, Nix and and Fury when they needed an equaliser or winner.  Does score some great goals but from memory they tend to not be game changers.

Great first half. Not quite sure what to make of the last half hour either. Still, was up to Adelaide to chase the game, not us. No impact from the bench again which is a worry. Thought Ridenton might get a run. But hey we deserved the points and needed them badly.

The point is, the points. Three of them.  Week on week they add up, despite the odd hiccup.  We are heading for the play-offs. I am happy.

Watching the game with mates here in Watford, they all thought it seemed better for footie then Wellington.  Had a lot to do with the stands being closer to the pitch and an actual crowd at the game (at least in front of the camera).
