Yes Durante had a great game - Gosford crowd only 7237 - 10000 last week for big opener - so will they be on notice soon. Don't all have Sydney and Melbourne pop base to call on.

Also, I thought Dura had an immense game last night too

If you watch the of back it all starts because dura doesn't push out to the man on the edge of the box. He's free to make the pass into a guy running in behind, Moss makes a strange decision to commit, Doyle gets caught between clearing and passing back, pretty sure he just freezes and gets caught between 2 thoughts. Not just his mistake

Burns was excellent - had an Ifill-esque influence last night, where he put us on his back when things were looking grim in the first half and dragged us back into the game, and then finished off easily for the winner. We'll really need both him and Weemac to carry on this way if we are to contend for the top six, as it looks we're good for one dumb goal given up a game.

Roly was also very good for us - amazing how we turned into an absolute rabble when he went off (even if we did deliberately sit back in the last 15).

Also surprised there's still so much knocking of Brockie - I'm well known as a Brockie critic, but you can't fault his contribution last night: won the penalty that eventually got us back in the game, played a crucial part in the second goal, got himself into a couple of other good positions, and chased hard the whole day. That's a pretty good game in my books.

i have just watched the replay and focused on watching Alex (mainly because there are few people saying he has gone missing) and I think from the first half only that - he is a different type of midfielder from both Riera and Roly, he tends to be a very basic player - receive and play - not much creativity, but not many errors.  Defensively is def on the left hand side of center midfield, seems to be deeper than Roly but higher than Riera.  Potentially under instruction based on positioning to help Doyle out much more than Roly has been asked to help out Muscat.

In summary I think he isn't noticed very much because a lot of the good things he does are very standard and un-remarkable

I think that's the plan for him, but I don't think he did the simple things very well at all. Poor touches on many occasions, gave the ball away a bunch etc. Might be wrong though, didnt watch him as close as you!

Basic is OK but you have to make the correct decision all the time. No mistakes

My penny-worth of thoughts from last night..

- thought the performance was similar to last week - promising but with numerous scary moments

- the pitch was bobbly as all hell. We struggled with it in the first half - mis-hit passes, poor first touches, the works. Seems in the 2nd half we settled down a bit and played with 'softer feet' somewhat.

- commentators were absolutely ridiculous. Literally the whole time until we led, they spoke of CCM's dominance. And yet it was like a flicked switch when we took the lead, all of a sudden we'd apparently been dominant the entire game, and our movement and passing was 'amazing'. It was like 1984, as if they'd gone back and erased all their previous comments from our memories, and acted like they'd been talking like that all along.

- brockie and doyle both had decent games despite their high-profile moments

- we did very well to create the chances to win against their defence, which seemed very good

- after I hadnt noticed rodriguez for a while I watched him specifically for about 15 mins and was very impressed, however I'm pretty sure that coincided with the 20min period people said he looked good, so should be taken with a grain of salt

So much this bit.  I was grumpy as hell about the commentary in the first half. Then in the 2nd half it was non-stop lyrical waxing about the Nix. OTT both ways.

I know, I know, its serious!

Quite happy with last night, think we can push on from here. Only downside really for me:

Burns was immense for us last night. He's now had two games where he's arguably been our most influential and creative attacking player. It's early days, but I wonder if he keeps this up Postecoglou might be tempted to include him in the Roos' Asian Cup squad, especially considering they've been pretty rubbish at scoring goals in their last few games. If Ibini can make the squad, surely Burns if he continues this form would be worth a look?

I think Moss holds quite a bit of the blame for Doyle's OG. He came flying off his line, but was still beaten to the ball by both Doyle and the CCM striker. There was no reason to do that and if he'd hung back he could have just hoofed Doyle's touch clear.

Quite a few times in the match there seemed to be a lack of communication between Moss and Doyle.

Three for me, and two for them.

Brockie appears to be the designated scapegoat, taking over from Vinnie.  Brockies work ethic was excellent last night and was instrumental in both goals.  He could have got a hattrick last night and these forums would be knocking him.

Brockie also missed a penalty and dragged a shot about 25 yards wide from about 15 yards out. I don't know if I would say he was excellent. But he was definitely good enough to justify his starting place, and the assist for Burns was quality.

Do you feel like a numpty now, Vader?

Hope he's not out for too long. If it's just  a cork it should be okay.

Honestly believe he will be our most essential player going forward.

A lot of you have misunderstood Brockie last njght. He was teasing the hell out of Reddy by doing the cross bar challenge and deliberately setting WeeMac up for the goal. He did it again for Burns too. Compared to previous efforgs, I'd give Brockie an 8 out of ten. He and Burns actually appear to play quite well off each other. Burns thus far has been an inspirational signing.

That's all well and good but the fact is, he was shite. Could have chipped Reddy, but poor shot....He had another chance to score across the face of goal but the ball would up at the corner flag....Missed the penalty because of no confidence. He ran around a lot? Well done little Jeremy. What else did you do? umm.......FUCK ALL. AS PER USUAL. He redeemed himself by heading the ball back 2 meters. Did he mean to? I would not be surprised if he was trying to score from that to be honest just like the amazing "back heal" which was just another fuck up. This will be his last season. MARK MY BALLS.

I just hope that this victory doesnt hide the cracks in this team. As much as three points is needed, I challenge anyone here to say we deserved to win this game. We played no better then we did against Perth. As for Brockie, I don't  often agree with NUfC but he is completely correct. He did play better then he did against Perth but yesterday was no better then asb standard. He needs to go before Newcastle.

He clearly went for power over placement. If he was confident in his scoring ability, he would have cushioned the ball in the goal.

We did deserve to win. Could we play like that and win against one of the better sides in the competition? Probably not. In that game our best was very good but we fell off for large periods and other teams would punish us for that. I really hope Roly is fit for this week.

Thought we were just as good as CCM. Both teams had parts of the game where they dominated - just like against Perth, I thought we played some nice stuff. Unfortunately we haven't been able to put it together for a full game yet, but signs are reasonably promising if we can cut out the silly defensive mistakes.

Agree with all that. Time to stop the winge and move on. Actually Ernest' s influence over the MF is quite telling. They played their way out of a bad spot, didn't lump it upfield. Sure there were some give aways but attention was on doing the right thing. Riera getting sharper by the game, Burns is the revelation and ARod will catch up. Brockie's confidence is low....dropping him's not the answer but maybe start Cunningham next game with Burns?
