On Sunday 15 March, the Wellington Phoenix will pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Mosque shooting in Christchurch, during the match against Melbourne Victory at Sky Stadium.

The Wellington Phoenix are the only professional sporting team to be playing on the night of 15 March - exactly one year after the tragic events in Christchurch – and General Manager David Dome says that the club wants to play their part in recognising and remembering the lives lost on that day.

“The club has named this football round ‘Kia tau te Rangimarie’, which is Maori for ‘Let there be Peace’.

“We think this is fitting as we want to focus on New Zealand continuing to come together as a community following this devastating event, regardless of religion or ethnicity or circumstances.”

As part of the match, the Phoenix will dress 51 seats at Sky Stadium in black - with each seat named after one of the 51 people who died as a tribute. The players and crowd will also observe a moment’s silence prior to kick-off, and have invited members of the Muslim community to attend as honoured guests.

“This is an important thing for us to do as we want these people to be remembered, not for what happened to them but to celebrate the lives they led for the family and friends they left behind,” says David.

The Wellington Phoenix will play their Kia tau te Rangimarie Round against Melbourne Victory on Sunday 15 March from 6.20pm.

Fudgeen' epic.

I hope there are no Nazis among the Phoenix fans because this will just bring them down.

Well Victory tend to start strong then die in the arse in the 2nd half, if Rojas puts 3 past us like I predict then Victory will park the bus in the 2nd half making it impossible to score. We got lucky against CCM but this time the luck has well and truly run out. We just cant compete with the bigger clubs.

I hope  there are none too Doloras, we don't need them nor their attitudes. Now if we could win this one, it would really set us up for a decent run in to the finals.

And if there are, I hope they're dealt with some good crowd justice, and swiftly at that.

Great job! I thoroughly concur. We're doomed!

At least with the All Whites games likely to get scrapped, won't have to worry about a few of the guys who may have likely been rested one of these next three games in 8 days.

So next question is - do we play full team all three games, or target the Victory game first and foremost and depending how that goes influences the Sydney line up? Can imagine the Newcastle game will be a rotated squad?

Do we give key players a rest against Sydney (so that we are full strength against Newcastle) or shall we try to keep the same squad for all 3 matches?

What do you guys think?

Given how Sydney's been playing I'm not sure how likely we can upset them even if we play our full strength squad.

Both times we have played Sydney this year we were the better team.

I would be happy to see a full squad against MV and Jets, with an experimental against SYD, if we kept the full squad for all three games, by the time we play the Jets the team will be stuffed in the second half.

A bit of a damn if you do, damn if you don't.

Also it has been confirmed that the All Whites games have been canned.

3 games in 8 days should be fine for most of them, they are young and fit professionals. We should be well rested given a light schedule recently. The need to rotate more comes in when such busy schedules are more regular. Need to look at each player individually though and how they are doing etc. Newcastle are looking good recently, so wouldn't want to chuck in an experimental side against them. If a couple do look like won't last all three matches though, like Hooper maybe, I'd have them come off the bench against Sydney.

Shouldn't be resting anyone for this match. Go full strength then check out where people are at.

Perfect would be to have a good lead and be able to sub early, but am expecting a tough match here.

This could be a banana-skin game for us. I think Victory are starting to look good with their attacking trio of Rojas - Kambsoba (I rate him highly, although he has been a bit unlucky this season and yet to score a goal) - and Toivonan.

They really shouldn't trouble us IF and that's the trouble, our guys play to their potential for the whole game.Lets be honest there havnt been many games this season if any where our guys have put a team under the hammer. They seem to drift in and out of games would love to see them perform for a complete game.

I think Sydney showed us how to nullify there attack using a similar system to what we employ. Bar individual brilliance (which they are capable of). We should have it over them in general play.

Big home crowd would be good and would make a difference. This is the best chance we have had to beat Victory in a long time.

Go for gold. Nail the Victory and go for it against Sydney. Chances are they will field a weakened side due to ACL games and have the premiership sewn up. But we could go for second place and make it ours. Here is a chance to show our worthiness.

The A-League will be disrupted very soon. Large gathering of people are a health risk these days and I hope I can watch them at least on TV. Closed door games are coming.

Not for whole matches, in my opinion. 30-45 to see whether they can impact the game in a positive way, just to get them the game time. Sitting on the bench isn't doing them any good, but when they do have the opportunities they're not quite taking them either.

I would love us to be in a game position where we could give some time to our back up defenders before the finals. To expect the incumbents to play every minute of every game for a whole season is tempting fate.

Kotahitanga. We are one.
