A great 3 points but not really convincing considering the goals we scored were poor defending by N/castle.

We were the better team on the day and deserved the win but I bet the top 4 will not be frightened.

They will be Terrier-fied!!!

Job done one the first half. Would have liked us to push on and take the game away from them in the second. But nevertheless happy to get the points

Well done boys and Ernie. Rob needs to be at every training.

Tratt good. Finkler v good. Vinnie and A Rod good. Roy two easyish goals, but you have to bury them. Noone had a bad game. Fenton worried me but improved through the game.
Cool to see the combinations between Finkler and Tratt.

Durra + Rossi made a massive difference to our back four

Rodriguez made a massive difference to our whole team

The ball moved alot faster through the middle today... i think A Rod was a big part of that... and Vinnie got more help on D which was important.

I'd still like to see us be a bit more threatening, but 3 points is 3 points.

I can't imagine a coach being ecstatic with that performance.

Not much to say tonight. We had things go our way, first goal miles offside, then a  clear penalty not given , then good finishing for the second goal.

Jets could have taken something from that given their chances.

We werent great  but we won. One day I will see Rodrigues pass the ball forwards, but he did some good defensive work, as did Lia.

Ref was decent for a change, apart from the missed pen.

Great Game. Topped off by the Zone going off with a super chant and drumming. Well done Patrick.

A good effort and we never look like losing to be honest. It's nice to have a little luck go our way for once (Roy looked offside for the first goal on the TV angle).

We were much better balanced with Rossi and A Rod, but the most promising thing was that Finkler finally showed what is expected of him and Kosta was back to his usual self.

McGlinchey was very quiet again, at least it seemed that way on TV, maybe it was different at the game?

Yes those 5 (not weemac) all had their best games of the season which was pleasing. Thought Tratt was very good going forward though he was caught out a couple of times.

Much better balance without Roly.

A-Rod, Lia and McG look the right combination for me in the middle, but to be fair Newcastle were giving us time.

A good big call from Ernie.

Pretty dominant and controlled first half, pretty ordinary second.

So much this i just dont get why A-Rod copes so much flak.He worked bloody hard tonite and did well both breaking up attacks and picking the ball up from the defence and friggen YES passing it forward. Fully understand why many have left the forums.

Better tonight and proof that we're not a total lost cause but let's not pretend that the Jets weren't REALLY bad.

I was much happier with the combinations overall tonight. It looked like the players knew each other better. From my seat I saw Tratt/Finkler, Barbarouses/Finkler, Rodrigues/everybody in particular going well. McGlinchey looked better than he has for a while.

To be honest, the only one who looked to be playing a different style was Krishna. Yet to link up with the others reliably.

The temp was much better in the first half. Started well and kept pressing high and maintaining possession. The second half was quieter but I think they tired a bit and the game was already in the bag. Definitely worth turning up to watch and I don't know where anyone would find much negativity from that (possibly a silly thing to say).

Broke my Fever Zone losing streak (was 0 from 4 or 5), and despite being old enough to know better, got so carried away with finally taking my shirt off at a Nix game, that I didn't notice I'd removed my season pass from around my neck & dropped it on the ground.

A massive "Thank you" to the person who handed it in. I realised it was missing about halfway to the railway station, and after checking around the seats, found it at the security desk. Thanks again.

Didn't the commentary say it was only the Jets' second loss at the RoF?

If so then I am even more happy with the win.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Roy did not seem to me to be offside for the goal - Kosta's shot was at the keeper, not a pass to Roy.

The goal was from a rebound off the keeper.

perhaps you need to remove your head from your arse and open your eyes. Fair enough you dont like him but he was very good tonight.  Simple things . Got the ball and moved it on quickly.

he was in an offside position when Kosta shot. Therefore offside. It was good to have one go our way

would doubt it. We have now beeaten them in 15 or 16 games and plenty of those have been of RoF. Although not many recently

Clearly the ref did not see Roy as 'interfering with the play' when Kosta "unleashed" his shot. Roy picked up a rebound.

I am sure a different ref might have called it an offside.

• gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent
when it has:
• rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent
• been deliberately saved by any opponent
A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who
deliberately plays the ball (except from a deliberate save by any opponent) is
not considered to have gained an advantage.
A ‘save’ is when a player stops a ball which is going into or very close to the
goal with any part of the body except the hands (unless the goalkeeper within
the penalty area).

That's straight from the laws of the game. He definitely gained an advantage because he scored a goal.

It was an offside offence and the goal should not have stood.

much needed win and surprising to me.  However dropping Roly was the catalyst for me, as he hasnt looked good all season and doesn't seem to work well with Finkler.  Things flowed better.

Good come-back from Monday night. Finkler's best game for us yet, same for Barbarouses, and the new setup was more balanced with Rodriguez in for Roly.

But the key was the D - Rossi is now a critical player for us - and his partnership with Durante.

Most improving player is Tratt - learning all the time defensively - and is becoming a real handful going forward.

Great to see the confidence too. Vinnie shooting from 70 metes with keeper off his line was a highlight for me.

offside though.

Didn't think so, haven't had a close look, but he looked on when Kosta took the shot.

And now that I have actually had a look at the replay, boy was I wrong.  Makes up for 2 weeks ago I guess, but that isn't much consolation to the jets.

I enjoyed the Tasman game of what I saw. I missed the first 30 mins. It got colder and colder and with the fireworks you knew the crowd would be lowish. 5,832 I believe. Jets fans were quite friendly too -Sorry Coops. GReat dog jokes mates. They might be the reason we won so keep them coming on game days till we lose.

I'd like to thank the three wankers whom threw full beers over the crowd and soaked me, half soaked Liz and half soaked Will. Although one of you leads a lot of the chants, your exist via Red Badge was just deserts for being dickheads. I am glad that I was wear a hoody, Nix jersey, hat tee shirt and jeans. The Nix jersey took a lot of it. I thoutht that type of behaviour had left the zone. However, I also remember the Leader of this pack getting kicked out last season for exactly the same thing.

That was the only suck moment at the game, although the clear penalty call going unrewarded came a close second. We earned that win and most of the team played well. Arod was great, a real engine room worker. Rossi was great and Tratt too.

Lastly, if you are in Row Z and you get hit in the head, it's Vinnie Lia. Nice try from long range, missed by only 2 feet and almost embarrassed their keeper.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Good thing we just shrugged off the losses as only being because we were playing the top 4, then.

I've been a supporter since 07. Just tired of not winning and uninspired performances over the years. It hurts more this year because I think we have a good team on paper.

ended up watching the last ten min outside the zone after watching fireworks from mezzanine. Enjoyed watching and listening to the zone from there - great stuff.
