I loved it, especially for the sheer length of each sentence.

"looting of the right of an entire people who has been waiting for happiness and enjoyment of fair competition"

Would make a great banner if we had that much fabric

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I feel like WSW could claim this forever. I definitely would if I were a WSW fan.

Just imagine it as a club motto - "Western Sydney Wanderers, looting the right of an entire people who has been waiting for happiness and enjoyment of fair competition since 2014".

That's the dream right there.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

That article is brilliant. Naturally the worst losers ever (WSW), will say that that they won it on merit and that the other team are just poor sports. Who were the Indian bookies backing? I mean 6 pnalties turned down does seem an extreme amount even if over two games.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Like it or not Brockie is the only striker we have. He should be starting until we find someone better.

This exactly.  every one of our strikers is in the 170 odd cm category so can not play a hold up striker role. too short.  brockie the only one tall enough at 183 cm.  As i said in another thread, shouldve tried keeping hold of stein ahead of krishna

Don't deny he has height...but how long do you give him to get his mojo back (assuming he ever had one)

I thought Brockie came on and gave us something to aim at at least and he is actually harrying (sp?) defenders and keepers on the ball creating pressure.

Its hard to say how long you can persist with him, we've seen in previous seasons in the a league he has what it takes, look at him when he was at newcastle.  Maybe a switch playing Burns behind him ala what arsenal have done with Sanchez might possibly help.  play Rodriguez right wing and mcglinchy left wing,

Not sure that the balance of the team was right the other night. Needed a left sided player at left back to increase the pace of the ball going forward down that side

He offers a bit more defence from the front and tbh a lot of our play depends on that- shutting down the ball, turning over possession and quickly hitting the opposition on the break.

Carlton Cole is much more of a targetman.

Ordered our first home shirts from Football Central's 20% off sale on Monday and arrived today so got it in time for Friday. Got someone from my team (who occasionally goes but not to every game) to take my partner's ticket too as she's up in Auckland so hopefully he enjoys it enough to go more.

Fact is, a striker is a front-line player who scores goals.
Fact is, a good/great striker is a player who scores the winning goal in a 1-0, 2-1 tight game or scores the first goal in a game to put pressure on the opposition
Fact is, the 'Nix, the Fever and all Phoenix fans need and want Brockie to be that striker.
(OK most fans,.Brockie Haters gotta hate),

Is timing of goals really an attribute for a striker? A goal is a goal.

I was trying to say that strikers, whether it be Brockie or another Nix player, must regularly score important/significant goals. A goal in a 1-0 game, a winning goal in a 2-1, 3-2 etc game is an important/significant goal. It's not just a goal, it's a winning goal. The last goal in a 3-0 victory or a 4-1 loss  is obviously not an important/significant goal

When any striker/attacking midfielder is through on goal, they must score on a regular basis.
Brockie had some appalling misses last season and does not look like a striker full of confidence in front of goal.
Nathan Burns has missed at least two important one-on-one chances through against the goalkeeper.

I'm not bagging either player, but over a season those chances, in tight games, are the difference between making the play-offs and/or securing a home play-off

To me it's bleeding obvious Welnix have to sign a marqee striker if this season isn't going to replicate the last 2. Anyone else?
