Are we going to pretend finishing isn't part of the game now?

So if Garcia wasn't able to shoot a fantastic goal in any league in the world and Lia was some how a goal scorer and Brockie wasn't backing up and low on confidence, and Huysegems wasn't unable to contribute much at all (look at the difference Cunningham made)...we were better..

Too many players not up to the (Dubious) A League standard.

Brockie is a dead set donkey.  To state my position as per forum rule 4  He lashes at the ball without any thought.  He misses simple chances (like the two he skaughtered tonight)  He cant pass the ball, he cant stay onside, he is lazy.  I hope that is enough to meet my burden under rule 4.

This great new attacking football is doing me in.  I have been to every game at Westpac(plus napier and Palmy)  (and I work shifts and have to take leave or swap and work doubles 2/3rds of the time, But the Welnix and this shit may finally have finished me off.  Fuck the playes fuck the owners fuck the A league refs. I will throw my season ticket money down the toilet next year, it will be much better for my health and my sanity.

My two cents worth...

Of course I'm gutted we lost the game this way, but I can't help feeling somewhat positive at the way we approach games. We are always in (almost, see MVC) every game, we have great spells of possession, we create chances. I really like what Ernie is trying to achieve but I am gutted to see he doesn't have a fully-competitive team. Because at the end it's the players who take the field and play the game. Had Brockie buried that chance in the 92' minute and Muscat fouled Ryall in the 93' we would all be here saying how great it is to be a Nix fan tonight and what a great team we have

I think so.

The tragedy is that we really have a lot of players that need replacing and that's not going to happen this season.

I would. Neither Brockie or Stein are lighting the world on fire, obviously, but am intrigued by the havoc a Kenny/Brockie frontline could create.

At least we finally scored from a corner.

We made plenty of chances but the finishing was shit.  The half time stats had us way up on balls into the penalty area - and the second half stats would have been even stronger in that. Our passing game was much more composed than almost any game in the teams history. The lost penalty did'nt help either. As I said I'm just pissed off because we WERE better.

Deserved a least a point but poor options killed us in the end. Ifill would have scored all the chances Brockie missed.

Cunningham was great for us on his pace alone.

Carlos was an outstanding player for us today.

Does Fenton do anyone elses head in when he has the ball? He makes some of the weirdest decisions. Hell have the ball out wide and then dribble in towards a player and completely limit his own options.

At least Brockie seems to have a pair of legs...

Stein seemed to be unable to hold the ball, unable to find people with a pass, unable to make runs into space...

yeh- I'd start Brockie. He's travelled 100 hours plus played a game against Mexico. Brockie and Cunningham for mine. Or Bertos ahead of playing two strikers who both seem poor.

We played quite well in the bits I saw. Most of 2nd half. But how disappointing a finish. Some embarrassing posts in this thread though. Some things don't change.

Future has promise. Patience required. Or has it run out?

I know, I know, its serious!

How terrible was that? Bloody awful doesn't even come close. We should have won that game. Absolutely.  Even before we were one player up.  And finally we scored. And then disaster. Naturally our thoughts turn to who should have stepped up and made a difference. Two names stamd out. Waffles and Brockie. Failures both. Christ on a bike, these are the games you are meant to stand up and be counted, make a difference. Instead, what do we get. Ineptitude. Please don't tell me about the travel dear Brockie has had to endure over recent weeks. Useless, don't rate him. Most of his goals were scored when the other person was the coach.  And Waffles?  Jeez Wayne, make a difference will ya!  But nooooooo. Can't do that.  Just wave my arms and legs and pretend that I am a player worth keeping.  What a disappointment.

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

We were better which is very positive.  Lia fucked at 55 mins should've been hooked, not hicks.  Reira great.   Brockie is weak link not Stein.  I'm thinking Ernie is fucking awesome, unlucky, but awesome (maybe should;ve reverted to a back four after equalising, but...that's for pussys)

I am happy we got to see some of the potential Kenny can bring to the team. I hope Ernie's chat to him and his game today will give him more confidence to get involved in the next few games.

Finishing killed us. We score any of a half dozen decent chances that other teams would, and we're not chasing a win into stoppage time yet again.

I liked the passing we have with Riera on the park, I think he helped more with defensive work than Hicks and Caira together, but I could be wrong.

At least it's not 9-3.

Drop Lia & Bertos from squad

but at least Gareth Morgan is in a great place to take pot-shots at Ricki and the All Whites...can't even win or hold a draw against a 10 man Sydney...If it were Ricki who'd f-ed it up...if we get a new coach every year but continue to be crap we can justify it each time as allowing the new coach to bed in.

If Hernandez is past it next year I shudder to think what we are going to do...

First half was turgid stuff.

Not at all and I reckon most people are just working through their pain really, it was a friggin awful way to lose a match. I don't think anyone disagrees with the style of play, but realize that we are short on several players who are up to the current A league standard.

What did Stein do in that game that deserved commendation?

also not sure what Lia or Bertos did to deserve getting dropped particularly, Bertos didn't play and Lia wasn't the worst. Ernie has found him some attacking work to do, and he's showing a little seen side to his play- making runs down the wing, beating his man with a nice turn etc etc..

Also their keeper is someone Moss could look at as an example of a keeper who is strong in the air- almost every time he came to get the ball he was very strong and dominant.

Here's the thing. No disgrace to lose to Mexico, a team that is ranked some 50-odd points above us. But this?  Sydney aren't anywhere near that much better than us. We should have won that game, no doubt, We didn't and I am gutted.
