I have just watched the full replay of the first half.

We were awful. Awful.

McGlinchey and Krishna can be proud of their efforts, and actually Doyle had a good first half after the early mistake (again) that should have cost us a goal.

They gifted us a goal, and then we actually got a good one thru McGlinchey and Roly. Both of those two covered an awful lot of ground in the first half.

Thank heaven MC were poor

Why are we not in our normal home strip ?
Charity auction shirt

It was for the 10th Anniversary of the A-League.  These shirts were available to buy in Canterbury, Ryos etc.  Not up for charity auction.

Not surprised there's a bit of confusion here, Dewhurst definitely said that it was a charity auction strip. But hey, he's such a superb commentator the rest of the time that we can forgive him this one mistake.

After Burns scored the first penalty, Dewhurst took about 30 seconds to realize it needed to be taken again. Is he at the stadium or at an Auckland studio ?

He is either in Auckland or he never, ever looks up from the monitor and at the pitch. Or he's just an idiot.

The last one might actually be the most accurate.

I think he's just prone to getting extremely carried away. So as soon as it's in the net he's going nuts and paying no attention whatsoever to what's actually happening.

This trait also manifests itself in his ridiculous hyperboles. If I had a dollar for every time he's referred to some sharkhouse aleague player as "world class"...

To be fair hyperbole seems to be mandatory for all A League commentators, not just Dewhurst. It's all part of selling the A League brand, so that everything has to be extraordinary, sensational, fantastic, gorgeous, even when clearly by the standards of the better leagues what we are watching is actually quite commonplace.

Also you can hardly blame him for getting a bit carried away. Burns had just confidently smashed home a penalty to give the club it's first ever hattrick, something we've been waiting seven years for. Some excitable yelling was understandable I reckon.

Dear YF Ultra,

I heard the player worn third kits are being auctioned off to the public at some stage. Any truth to this?

Cheers,

We wear a charity shirt and get a hat trick. If I was superstitious, I would think that there is something to this...
