I think my starting XI would look like this:

Carlos Carlos Hernandez.       Carlos Carlos Hernandez

Cunningham.   Brockie.   Boyd.  Ifill. And    Fenton

Carlos Hernandez.   Carlos Hernandez.  Carlos Hernandez

                          Carlos Hernandez

Personalities aside because we have got what we got. Will the 12th man turn up and get us over the line for points.

I wouldn't want Brown back and I don't want Lia now.

Brown was ok at times and his goals made up for his disappearing the rest of the time.

Lia is simply not good enough and I don't really care if he's slightly better than last season when he was woeful.

Good idea with rufer. But which weaker opposition? We've already drawn to perth n newcaslte and lost to bling.

I was talking about the half he had for Nix v Capital Football Selection, pre-season.
Manny at the back as the dedicated sweeping DM.  Hicks and Rufer helping out defensively, but both, or one rotating somewhat higher.

              Moss
Fenton Dura Sig Caira
             Manny
Rufer   Carlos   Hicks
     Brockie Kenny

More defensively it's 4231 or with one of Rufer and Hicks dropping deeper and Kenny also dropping from the front line.  So you'd have a lot of rotation with Hicks and Rufer alternating getting forward, the fullbacks getting forward for width, and Kenny dropping when needed in midfield.

Or play the same players as a 4312, with the FBs pushing forward for more width. Hicks, Manny, Rufer making the three.  And when you need goals it pushes to a 4132 and FBs again overlapping for width.

Very flexible set of players, provided Rufer and/or Hicks can do enough defensive work between them, and that Kenny also can play deeper when needed and contribute defensively.

So this one off game of NZ Phoenix against Western Sydney, it's a celebrity game right? Like the one with that Beckham Herbalife FC team.

Who is the celebrity this time? I really hope it's Miley, or maybe even Justin!

Who do we sing for?

P.S. If it's Miley that singing should be wrecking ball!

I don't know much about the kids Rufer & Ridenton but was under the impression Rufer was an attacking mid and Ridenton could slot further back in the midfield. So maybe Ridenton is one that could push Vinnie for the starting spot later in the season?

just looking at possibilities, for a change - as opposed to the Lia sucks, Lia scapegoat, Lia not entirely awful pages on here ;)

i see Ernie has said " I wouldn't be surprised if he landed a place in the starting line up before the season ends." about Ridenton (as well as Rufer), so he's going to have fun shoe horning both of them in. lols

never says a bad word, our Ernie

But we're not goiing to see either this weekend, good to see the forecast is now looking quite nice COYN

Just like Boyd and Boxall would be competing as well......

I seriously doubt you will see Rufer or Ridenton near the pitch unless we are well out of playoff contention.

lols Boyd and Boxall
Rufer or Ridenton (or Lia) in a middle three is not quite so silly
i'd be very happy to see Rufer get on the pitch instead of Lia by seasons end, but rather if he won the spot than a run for experience
but know what you mean.

I'm also loving the fact the shinji, youssouf and Tomi are out; WSW will still be tough but without those 3 they are less dangerous threat.

Perhaps, but they have one of the best coaches in the league so I would not necessarily be rubbing my hands just yet.

I'm not at all convinced he is decent. Completely lost control of a bad tempered match last season.

But better him than Ben Williams, touch wood.
