FFA vs The Fans: the thread of continued incompetence

A further bit of balance needs to be recognised too [and this is not in direct reference tot he video] but different people have different perceptions of what is safe or appropriate for their children. I'm no wowzer but I wouldn't consider taking my son into YF for example simply based on my observations of some of the drunken behaviour and swearing I have witnessed. I base that view on what I want my son to be exposed to, whereas I have no problem being in the zone or having the zone in its current form. Other people might not have any actual experience of active crowds and it scares them, especially if they are basing part of their fear on media reports from overseas of crowd behaviour, riots, and the like. Perception is not always reality but the guardians of the game need to take steps to change those perceptions and while the FFA haven't managed to do that in a successful manner, they do need to do something.

That's fair.  I wouldn't take my son into the fever zone until he was quite a bit older, mainly because of beer spillage, thrown shark and the packed seats.  That can be way too much for the wee ones.

But that's not a bad thing.  I have experienced the zone, I love the zone, but its not really a place for little kids (IMO).  If you get a lot of drunk supporters, singing and chanting, its always going to not appeal to some people.  The zone is fantastic, and very well policed, but even then an area open to the public, and any bad apple can walk in and start some bad behavior.

So the video doesn't represent every supporter of the wanderers, but Rebecca and that other dudes opinions don't represent very many football fans.  And that's kind of the point.  The video isn't saying everyone's perfectly behaved, its just saying they aren't what was being said.

A bit of balance for your balance.

As you have mentioned above, different people have different perceptions. If you choose not to take your son into the Fever Zone, that's your choice. I have taken my two daughters into the FZ from the ages of 8 & 5. Yes, there is swearing, yes there are some people who get a bit messy with the booze. I can catergorically say, though, that I have never felt uncomfortable, or felt like I'm putting my daughters at risk, by having my girls there. If they felt threatened or uncomfortable, in any way, they would tell me. The FZ is generally, self policing, whereby, the ones that are getting out of hand usually get the feeling that they are being dicks! I choose to take my daughters into the FZ, because, no matter where we went in the ground we would still hear swearing & we would still see people who are the worse for drink!

So from this thread I think that YF is pretty balanced.

Although I suspect most of us are unhinged  as well.

Lucky I'm not one of the unhinged ones.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

You are not disagreeing with me; your point had already been well made, I was offering something counter to what you have alluded to and what others had been saying. Don't try and make this into anything else please.

Sounds good. Does it fly like a paper dart? If So, let's fill the zone with them.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

We have carefully considered the National Banning Regulations provided to us by the FFA, in conjunction with the other active supporter groups, over the past 2 days.

The Yellow Fever feel that while this is a positive step in the right direction and goes a long way towards the commitments made in by the FFA, there remain concerns around certain points within these regulations which do not align with the agreed outcomes of the meeting held with all active supporter groups.

In good faith, we have given the FFA the opportunity to work with all active groups to alleviate these concerns, and deliver a process that is both fair and equitable. We have been given a commitment by the FFA, that these issues will be worked on and attended to in a timely manner.

For logisitc reasons it's pretty hard to get 11 parties around the table at once. A couple of people (who have more appropriate skills than us) are taking the lead, but we are certainly involved with it at every stage.
