Well I've just heard from a pretty good sauce what Ricki has said. I can't name the sauce so I wont print what was said. The issue is what he said and how often (when the ball came off the crossbar, when the freekick where Greenacre got booked and then the throw in) so that seems to be why he has been given 3 matches. Not for a one off spray but for a constant one.

Both C words were thrown in too so...

I would think that after getting bent over and taken on Wednesday by the refs he wouldn't have been in a cheerful frame of find either and nor would the FFA after he told them the refs were sh*t then.

did O'Leary caution him?
If he did, then fair enough to send him off. If he didn't, maybe the referee made a mistake.
Also, I question the 3-match ban for "only" shouting something. Not condoning the use of swearing - I'd actually would love to see everyone getting booked for swearing at the ref - but it makes no sense that Talay punches Greenacre and gets a 2-match ban, a clear punch which sends a horrible message to everyone watching.
Whereas a coach shouting something only the ref can hear gets 3 weeks off.
It makes no sense whatsoever.

I would say its a snowball effect. He's basically told the FFA your referees are sh*t after Parsons, given Oleary a prolonged spray during the 2nd half so the FFA have just tossed the book at him.

When you look at it like that, he really has made a complete dick of himself so its no surprise...

Except he has a decent case in both instances.

The FFA have even agreed O'Leary was average by expunging Dodd's red card - and the Galekovic free kick was just embarassing for the officials.  Meanwhile if the MRP had balls they would have rubbed Ryall out as well.

It seems like they chose to ignore it until it got the stage where the constant abuse couldn't be ignored anymore. I've just named the 3 incidents above... Besides I don't think they have mics beside the team benches for this very thing so from a viewing perspective, the referee is always going to be the only person to hear it and the crowd would be too far away

Sounds like retaliation to me.
He expressed his disappointment at certain episodes and rightly so. He did so in a polite-ish way (not including the ChCh game). Does this mean you can't criticize the FFA? It sounds pretty unfair to me.
Especially when he did have a point on certain occasions and O'Leary seemed to be rather edgy. See Dodd being sent off because Lia headbutted his knee....

I don't condone it, but I wouldn't agree he's mae a dick of himself.  After a week of provocation he lost it verbally.

After two minutes of provocation Muscat punched someone and to date he's still playing this weekend.  Likewise Talay getting a fortnight.

There is little to no credibility left with the FFA ad the review panel when you can get punished for longer for an expletive laden rant than for committing an act that could earn you jail time if it happened on a Friday night in town.

Oh no doubt he was pretty bollocks. I'm not defending him in the slightest. I'm just saying that I've been a Ricki supporter and I'm disappointed to hear this. I honestly expected better. It seems like a Jekyl and Hyde effect. Off field, mild mannered and calm, on the field just calling everyone a c**t loud enough so its not obvious.

What going to be a real pisser is if he hasn't seen the replay yet, he gave them a gobful on the goal line decision they got right so...

I was putting together today that worst referee poll and when you look at the stats, its pretty stupid.

15 referees, 5 games a week so in theory that 1 full game every 3 weeks. How would a player perform if that was the case. I think there in inherently lies the answer... Less referees but reffing more often might create a more consistent and match ready referee. Surely the FFA can see this.

I'll be interested to see what they do with them refocusing on the A League now that '22 is a goner. Its quite obvious they have taken the eye off the ball. Is it too late?

yeah I wasn't saying you were defending him mate.
I've just being pushing my point that there is no consistency whatsoever at the moment in the FFA. We could start a whole thread where we list the deeds of Joel, Payne, our own Siggy, Talay, Kosmina, Ricky H, K-Muscat etc and compare the punishment and it seems to be that the MPR are all over the show. And they shouldn't be!
I would really like to know where they pulled the 3-weeks from. Then I am sure Ricky did give him an earful or two!

..and I reckon this is going to happen:

a) - 3xweeks ban (5%)
b) - 2xweeks ban (65%)
c) - 1xweek ban (30%)

Just purely for the sake of speculation, with all the press Terry has had around his finances and the Phoenix, Ricki them tells them Parsons is a clown and tells OLeary quite frequently he is a f**king cheating c**t, you have to wonder if someone at the FFA decided to take the Kiwis down a peg.

Just a thought.... after all Russia and Qatar got WC's so anything is possible.

As I said this afternoon I did not think that Ricki would have called his a cheat, but if he did and also used the other C word, then he probably deserves what ever he gets.
O'Leary is like Breeze and the rest, not cheats but incompetent.

I am just so happy that RH has shown a bit of passion and that has coincided with the lift in the form of the team. Even if the 3 weeks stands, it will be worth the effect it has had on getting his team to pull finger and start performing. Good strategy Rick.

For all we know, the 4th official might have warned Ricki about his verbals during the game numerous times and the spray at the ref over the throw-in might have been one too many.

The thing that gets me is that he was sent from the field over a disagreement as to where the throw in was taken. We were sent back 2 meters, immediately after Galekovic took the free kick 3 meters forward from where it should have been taken. I don't know what was said, so am not going to comment on whether the ban in fair or not, but I just wish there was some consistency in how the game is refereed. Each ref interprets the rules differently, which is understandable, but when a ref changes his interpretation of the rules several times during a match, that is when we, the fans, have a right to appeal for better refereeing standards.

3 metres?  a tad more than that.  The FK was given at the edge of the 6 yard box. but was taken at the edge of the 18 yeard box.

which = aprox 12 yeards or 11 metres

Don't want to pop anybody's angst bubble here but after watching the replay of the game I'm sure that the ref had his arm up as that free-kick was taken. As that signifies an indirect free kick, and Ward collecting the keeper would have been direct, I'm wondering if Ward was flagged offside before thumping the keeper. Might explain why the free kick was taken a lot further up the park?
I could, of course, be completely wrong. It has happened before.

Anyway, carry on.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Dunno, I could be completely wrong. It just struck me as odd when I was watching the replay.

So who gets to assume the mantle of "referee abuser" for the Nix on the bench this weekend in Ricki's abscence? Gould?

I wouldn't think that Ricki would say that kind of thing..
when I had dinner with him (thats right, be jealous), a guy I was with was talking about the behaveoir of the heart fans, at the away games. and how they were calling one of the fans c**ts and stuff, and he looked pretty outraged and shocked . ..
Maybe the source isn't completely right - he just doesn't seem like a guy that would swear like that at a ref.

You may be on to something there.

It doesn't look like Ward was offside but it was very close and Ward ran clear of the line of defence which sometimes makes it hard to call so it could have been judged that way by the lino. Could also explain why the Adelaide players were protesting for so long.

Full release...

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has handed down an official reprimand and a suspended $1,500 fine to Melbourne Victory player Kevin Muscat following the post match incident of the Week 17 match between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park.

FFA determined that a breach of the National Code of Conduct (Code) had taken place. Specifically, the actions of the Player have been found to have brought the game into disrepute.

The suspended fine will be triggered in the event of a further breach of the Code in the remainder of the current Hyundai A-League season, including any finals series matches.

Although we don't know what Ricki said, surely Muscat's offending was worse. However Ricki gets three games in the stands and Muscat gets a "pat on the back and a secret handshake and he is free to play in the Melbourne derby on Saturday night", as C-Diddy quite rightly put it. A bit of a joke really.
