Is it legal to form a wall infront of our goal box?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Not only that think we might need more than one lucky goal.

Hat trick to Rojas is the only way out with points haha. Then he'll be signed by the roar.

What are the bookies paying for a Phoenix win? $100?

Some sterling reverse-jinx work here. Keep it up and we'll win at a canter.

I like this as every other game everyone thinks we will win. Maybe this is a good omen.
However, Roar do have to play this Wednesday.

By this, I hope you are suggesting it is one of the Nix team members that provide the 'knock out blow'

Well remember we do have Vukovic. He's a really good goalie, and he does his job well. We just need to have confidence in Vuko. Oh, and in everyone else, but so we don't loose too badly..

I wish we passed like Barcelona.. or Spain.

If we are making comparisons with the Roar and Barcelona then remember how Mourinho coached Inter to beat Barca in the Champs league final.

He basically ceded possession....did not try and compete high to get the ball and relied on a rock solid back four with two mongrel DM's to block their attacks. In the end Barca could not find a way through and Inter nicked a goal and won the game.

Contrast with how we played against CCM. We pressed high early in the game and it worked for a while. Trouble was when its hot and very humid your players don't have the energy to keep running that hard. The wide guys, Ward and Rojas were stuffed after 40 mins and the midfielders could not keep running forward to support attacks and then cover back to pick up the CCM midfielders. End result as the game went on Perez and Weemac found more and more space.

It will be hot and humid again in Brisbane. If we press high and try and cover their runs we will quickly run out of gas and they will slaughter us. I don't necessasrily condone what may be concieved as negative tactics but often you need to play the percentages. An open free game will suit the Roar as they will ruthlessly exploit fast turnover ball.

Rickie should watch a tape of the Champ league final. I would be happy with a 0-0 away.

4-4-2 time IMO. I can't believe we've got no Manny for this one... sigh.

               Vuko

Hearfield Siggy   Dura    Lochy

Ward     Lia       Brown   Bertos / Rojax

        Greenie   D-Mac

Bench: Rojax / Bertos, Pav, Daniel, The Crow

I would start Rojas if the weather's not too hot and humid, and let him run his ass off, otherwise, let Bertos run himself ragged in the heat, then as it starts to cool, bring on a fresh Rojas around 60min to run at their tired defence all night. Also, you just know Ange Postaletter has come up with some way to shut dowen Rojas early in the game. He's got enough pacey players to do it.

Their team is not exactly tall, so we should look to exploit that at the front, make sure we have Target man & finisher up front. If ifill was well, i would have even said D-Mac and Ifill up front.

Not larry-longball bullsh*t, but good runs down the flanks, with crosses into the center. sh*t even Lia was getting amongst it last week.

I think also, we wont have much luck playing up through the middle, they play too tight, but we can't simply outrun them down the side, so we need to hunt in pairs down the flanks.

If Rojas goes for a run, then Lia or Brown need to be nearby in support for good sharp passing options, not making blasting runs to the center. That's why we've got two up front.

Going to be a tough game, and i dont think we shoud be encouraging our FB's to be pushing forward too often.

We also need to be very careful about the score one and then soak the pressure, because from memory, we're sh*t at that, and usually give away the cheap goals near fulltime. And the Roar just simply won't stop coming at us. They won't sit back on 1 goal. They'll wanna score 10.

Totally agree. We aint gonna be able to score an ugly tim brown wonderstrike in the first min and hold on for the rest of the game like against perth.

Just quietly if the rain keeps up, could be potentially rescheduled, I'd rather the match gets cancelled than rescheduled and we both take a point anyone else keen on that?

I can seriously see this game getting postponed. Flooding is hitting Brisbane, parts of the city are being evacuated and surrounding towns are cut off, if not submerged. To me it would not seem right to play the game anyway with a backdrop of so much destruction in the area and the potentially considerable loss of life.

5 cards = muscat out.

Queenslander 3x a year.

A suspension for 5 cards is only in the first 21 rounds.  After that you need 8, at which point you get two games off.  Siggy currently on 7, Durante on 6 and Brown and Muscat on 5 each.

I heard him say that and almost threw my beer at the TV. The incompetence pisses me off and on top of that he sounds like a knob.

Fuck this stupid game

Piney, is that 2 games off regardless of whether an earlier suspension was served for 5?

Yep....so Siggy and Durante will still get two games if they get an 8th yellow, even though they've already served a one-match ban for five yellows.

It'll be called off - the flooding will be worse tomorrow and is due to peak on Thursday... Suncorp is an evac centre tho I doubt the ground staff and pitch prep will be high on the priority list.

Sounds like it could exceed '74 where Toowong/Milton went pretty well under... not to mention the airport :p

We'll see...
