Except for that pass this has been the best half of football from McG for quite a while.

We stop and cut back in when we get to the final third. Which kills the speed of the movement and allows defenders to organise themselves.

What a shame. Carried away too early when we hit top spot acting like we're the greatest thing around - before sharkting the bed.

First half yeah I agree, but now Sydney have got all eleven behind the ball which makes it very hard.

We are good enough to win next week (it is Mel C isn't it?), hopefully we can get our mojo back and win the whole thing.

3 points out of  a possible 12 from our last 4 home games, conceding 10 goals.

Don't get me wrong, it's been a great season and it's still all to play for but on this form it'll be very difficult to make the GF.

Feel like weve missed a huge opportunity; extremely disappointing yet again

Glad the 13,000 who turned up saw us fired up and competitive in the 2nd half. Hopefully they saw enough to want to come back next week.

How many points did those missed penalties cost us

WTF#*K Ernie. Instead of sub Burns at 74 drop him back in behind Roy & Kenny.

So if we beat Citeh next week we play Sydney away the week after? Not bad, would rather play Sydney in Sydney than in Wellington at this rate

Our home form since the Asian cup break hasn't been good.  If I was Melb City I'd be pleased, they have a real chance of beating us.

After 7-8 years as a voyeur here I finally signed as I needed to drop a big fat load load of disappointment.

Maybe I invest too much of my life in this team.  I've lived through many ups and downs, but tonight I call a spade a spade and that was quite frankly sh@te!

Too emotional to create a decent articulate constructive critique of the game, other than to say I'm sick of this crappy home form.

I will always support my beloved Phoenix, but this should have been our night quite frankly!! FFS!

Well Domey, the people turned up but your players didn't. Keep that up and you won't have a club.

It is  pretty funny how quickly expectations shift - how many people here wouldn't have been happy with 4th place at the start of the season?

Still, its the nature of our defeats which is frustrating I think. Missed penalties etc...

Shark performance, but not all bad news. City are bloody awful, we should have another shot at the bling in a few weeks.

Should that be the case, hopefully this time the game won't resemble a handball match...

If it comes down to a penalty shoot-out ... we're doomed!

Understand the disappointment, but saying ' this should have been our night quite frankly' is bizarre. Why should have been our night.

On the day we were not good enough.

Don't get all the misery....I am really proud of Ernie and the boys. Playing a tight match for a possible second place finish is a great place to be. OK we were not good enough on the night but we gave it a good shot in the second half. Some people have short memories......Most seasons we are either scraping not to finish with the wooden spoon or if things are going well hoping to get 6th.

Sydney are a very very good team.....there defenders are excellent players and Arnold is a very astute coach. There is no shame is losing 2-1 to them. They have not lost away this season.

All is not lost. We still get a playoff game at home next week. Melbourne B are beatable....very beatable. We then get an away game against Sydney(prob) They have had the yips at home this season. They don't handle the home pressure very well. They will have even more pressure as they will be favourites. Our away form is good and we will be under no pressure.

There is still lots to play for this season. We have a coach who knows finals football. He has done it before.

The journey is far from over. KEEP THE FAITH

I thought we were the better of the two, but that might have been because they were sitting back and defending hteir lead. Saying that Italiano looked really shaky in the first half, came right in the second. And the likes of Ibini found it very easy to get behind our defense.

Its not just the pens, we must have had at least twice as many corners as anyone else and we only managed to score a solitary goal from them in the final half of the final game of the season.  Simply not good enough.
