excerpt from stuff story...

Rain and wind

Sydney's rainfall to 9am on Tuesday was 119.4mm, the most in any day since February 2002 and the most for an April day in 17 years, according to Weatherzone.

Wind speeds were also impressive with Wattamolla to Sydney's south recording at least 100 km/h winds every hour since just after midday on Monday. Just after 9am on Tuesday they were clocked at 135 km/h, or well within the range of a category 2 cyclone if sustained.

and soon they will have "..the Phoenix."

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Only thing missing was me singing we're  gonna win 3-2 when we were 2-0 down in the second half! ? Otherwise a good effort there Patrick. Very good effort.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

There's a little cut in there where I had put the camera down to take my own shirt off and then picked it up, but there were definitely some shirts off within 5 seconds of the goal being scored.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I hold the jinx factor and worked out on Friday what it was.  I have been to most home games this season.  When we lost to Perth on opening day I took the car from Upper Hutt where I live as I was going on to a dinner party afterwards.  I normally take the train.  We lost.

For the two games at the Hutt Rec I could get to, I took the car as a mate lives 10 minute walk away and I could park in his drive.  We did not win either.

I took the car to both Sydney and Melbourne games recently and we lost both.

I took the train to work last Friday as ususal and stayed on after work to take in the game, then train home.  We won again.

I promise to take the train on Sunday

2nd place confirmed!

Get in boys (please), no pressure

"A victory over Sydney FC will secure the Phoenix second place in the regular season and an extremely valuable pass into the second round of the finals series. This comes with it a much higher chance of the Phoenix making its first ever A-League grand final.

Football Federation Australia has said that should the Wellington Phoenix qualify to host a Grand Final, it will be played at Westpac Stadium."

We haven't dealt with pressure too well thus far - and I think we're still more comfortable being the plucky underdog - so lets hope we pull through this time.

Sydney probably play the best football in the league at the moment, especailly away from home, so it wont be easy.

Still think it's impressive how many goals they've been scoring away from home; their defence definitely can be tested, though, and lets hope we do that this time because we go nowhere near last time out.
