There is no service, because there is no money. It's fraud.

I'm optimistic that the money will come, but I think it distracts from the central point (for me): that Terry's financial shenanigans look to have lost us Marco. This is the point where I feel I need to join the FIND A NEW OWNER brigade.

New owners don't grow on trees. I don't believe this has lost us Marco, that is nothing more than a conveniant excuse. He has multiple clubs lining up for his signature. If he wanted to stay here he can wait a few days to be sure. But as I said before, if it does start to drag on and no money turns up on schedule then the situation will degenerate very quickly.

The thing is that the angst about Marco going has been confusion about the real motivation behind it. Given that reliable sources tell us that the Nix offered the most money, and that the idea that Marco would learn more about football at the Tards is completely laughable, the answer of "nervousness about Terry's wheelings and dealings" is the most credible answer I've gotten yet for why Marco/Rodi are jumping ship. In a way, I'm glad it's that rather than my next guess (bad blood with Ricki).

I know that new owners will be hard to find, but if the main thing stopping the Nix from fulfilling our potential is that good players don't want to stick around at a club run by a dodgy financier, then let's see what we can do to remedy that.Doloras2011-03-03 11:19:23

I believe the best thing we can do is to remain calm and not jump to conclusions. The timeframe we have been given is quite reasonable. We probably can't find a new owner and we certainly can't choose to sell the club to this hypothetical person. That is still under Terry's control.

All the above notwithstanding, if this dude is such a massive and well known crook, how was he allowed to grab a piece of a Spanish club. I would have thought that Santander and the Spanish FA just might have thoroughly checked him out beforehand.

Blackburn Rovers did not accept his offer even though I think his was higher than Venky's. Not sure what their reasons for that were.

According to the 5 Live guy, that was the big mystery. The reason for Blackburn going with a smaller offer were never publicised. The BBC dude said it was fishy but there was nothing definite that they found which they could pin on our potential saviour.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Point taken. But my headline is bigger so it was worth the effort.

It's interesting. Call me cynical but I fail to believe that, at the start of last season, people in and around the Fury didn't know that their club was in big financial trouble and in real danger of going tits up. It didn't seem to stop some decent players putting pen to paper with them.

I don't understand this post or how it relates to mine. People from the Fury knew the club was in trouble the moment their mega rich owner pulled the plug and the FFA had to come in. Previously contracted players (like Fowler) basically had their contracts annulled. The squad had a pretty cheap look about it to me.

You mentioned the concerns about a new owner being an excuse. I was agreeing with you.

I dunno, I wouldn't knock back players like Williams and Hughes.

Giving fees up front that don't go into escrow or a trust account is not a good way to be doing anything....

(I'm not going to give up all hope until i see Terry's TV on TradeMe.)

My feeling is never.

We'll find out what is likely to happen to Century City Football on Monday at the court hearing w/ IRD. From there, hard to say. Terry might have the alternate funding he mentions in stuff, he may not.

If IRD seek to wind him up on Monday, it will mean that they don't buy the 'cheque's in the mail' story and it won't matter if the money materialises later or not - he is a gone burger. I don't think he will give up the club voluntarily and it will mean the Nix are wound up, the search goes on for an entirely new owner of an entirely new club and they go cap in hand to the A League and beg for a 2nd/3rd/4th chance for a NZ team in an Aussie competition. f**k
I'll make a one time only offer - $1 each [cash] for your official stripey now. Offer closes tomorrow at 5pm. Then 50 cents for the rest of the week. Napier Phoenix2011-03-03 18:56:09

I am afraid you are right.....the fact that Terry wants to borrow $100 million off this guy makes it even more dodgy IMO. It is just such a huge amount of money considering he owes $6 mill????
I think this is not going to go very well and we might be in for quite a long period of uncertainty. Which will also snowball onto player recruitment.

Question. If the IRD puts CCfootball into recievership...who pays the wages?

Just hope that a miracle happens and and the refinancing goes through.

So technically speaking if the IRD put the boot into CCF on Monday there could be no Phoenix football club by Monday night, correct  ?
The end is nigh ,all a bit grim really !!

The real question is around what entity the current players are contracted to. If it is CCF ltd, and things go down on Monday, the net affect could well be their contracts are all null and void.
