Predictions for Captain?

Rufer or Ball.

can't see it being Rufer, especially as he won't be in the starting 11 very often. I'd go with Ball or Payne

Queenslander 3x a year.

Tough on Rufer for being vice-captain to Taylor, him leaving then being vice-captain to Dávila, seeing Dávila leave and being vice-captain to Taylor (again), seeing Taylor leave again and still be vice-captain to someone else.

Always the bridesmaid, though I agree can’t see him getting it either. Payne for me seems the first choice over Ball, but captaincy doesn’t mean the same as it does in cricket or rugby so it’s not too important either way.

Call me cynical but i think he is chosen as vice because he’s a local boy and comes from a family of NZ football royalty. How can someone be vice captain year after year yet starts maybe half the season? I just don’t get it lol maybe internally he is well respected and a leader, not sure

Got to be David Ball in my opinion. There's no other choice.

Love Payne and he's easily our best defender but a. the golf kart incident wasn't that long ago and shouldn't be forgotten and b. He's actually not been a professional for that many years.

Ball is a starter, he's got experience, he's been with the club a few years now, he's mature, professional and sets the tone for everybody else with his workload and efforts off the ball.

With all due respect I don't see anybody who comes close to him.

Rufer is a regular starter - has been for the past two years and will be again.

If we picked captains on likely hood to play, Taylor would have never got it, based on injuries.

More to being a captain than simply getting on the pitch. Rufer arguably has to do more, because of his name!

Rufer started 16/24 last season and 11/29 the season before. May well struggle to start above Prso, Pennington, Lewis

Reckon there’s zero chance he’s a regular starter this season, and you can quote me on this lol

I reckon there's 75% chance he's a regular starter, I am also quotable.

My early abs honest table  prediction for the upcoming season:

1) Melbourne city.. they should be the beat to beat this season and have strengthened with Matthew Lachie in the side

2) Sydney fc- despite an ageing squad, they still have strength in every line and a fantastic academy which helps

3) victory- popa will do well here.. I think they’ve recruited well, might struggle a bit with injuries and depth though

4) Perth - depends on their schedule and how many games at home, but have a strong attack and if they can shore up the back, should do well

5 MacArthur- despite problems in pre season, have enough quality to make finals. Having best player in the league helps

6 ) Toss up between Adelaide and Western United. Adelaide have quality youth players and hard to beat at home, tend to lack discipline though, and western have recruited not terribly.. a new coach bounce might help them but both lack depth

7) jets - quality coach and not a terrible first team, unsure if they can jump 6 places on last year though

8) nix- extremely well coached, some quality in every line but I think we will lack that quality and depth to last the whole season

9) WSW - I think the squad is strong, coach Robinson is rubbish

Bottom two will be central coast and Brisbane

What is yours? 😊

1) Melbourne City
2) Sydney FC
3) Melbourne Victory

I would say the remaining 3 spots could be quite open.

Why are both saturday night matches scheduled to start at the same time for some of these upcoming games this season? I preferred the earlier 9:30 starts last season for the later games too, looks like they have gone back to 9:45

I agree but ideally he'd come off the bench with a stronger squad for me.

Paramount is trying concurrent kick offs on Saturday nights. They will be doing live crosses to the other game during the coverage I think.

Surely that divides viewership (ie less advertising eyeballs).

Also it's annoying af to watch it you've ever watched Yankee sports coverage where that it quite common.

Hopefully we know within the next few days who will be our captain. Will definitely need to have a big influence on and off the pitch. We are in for a rough season.

Us against Western United in FFA Cup RO32
3rd Dec v WSW
7th Dec @ Western
10th Dec @ Jets

No ideal having to fly to Melbourne midweek.

[Edit: I'm assuming they will give Western the hosting rights, that isn't confirmed yet tho]

Well, anyone can subscribe to a vpn and watch for free on YouTube, but sky pays for the rights, sponsors the stadium, and sponsors the team.

We're talking about the domestic provider and if you support the team you should support its partners.

Same I'm in NZ. I use my android box and watch it on BT sport. Don't usually get any pre-game show or after match comments to A league games. That wasn't an issue last year tho, as fox cut all that stuff. This year will be different though.
But with game being played simultaneously, I'm a bit worried how that is all going to be broadcast.
