Well, anyone can subscribe to a vpn and watch for free on YouTube, but sky pays for the rights, sponsors the stadium, and sponsors the team.

We're talking about the domestic provider and if you support the team you should support its partners.
Good point. Sky do seem to be offing more realistic deals these days for sport content compared to a few years ago. I guess that's what a bit of competition does.
I did think the $10 passes for the All Whites games were good from Sky.

Nix saying that season passes will have a sky sports discount - so worth waiting until they're announced before subscribing.

Yeah, i’m not paying $400 a year to a broadcasting corporation to support my football team. Nor am I buying a Škoda.

This gatekeeping is weird

It's not gatekeeping.

You don't steal a car so why would you steal the broadcast?

I don't know why they make those half arsed announcements? Tell me how much it costs for a non sky subscriber to stream it with a season ticket bundle etc.

Wow looks like someone has got greedy $269 for a Yellow Fever pass according to a link i saw. Not the way to attract the fans back if thats true.

$269 for Fever/Silver memberships for a maximum of 9 games (2 of which are set for Auckland)
$69 for a 3 Game membership.

You are really getting forked by buying the full season membership.

Now that is a class. More Kiwi boys showing up for Nix posters.

Heh, when I tried to renew it says there aren't enough tickets - hopefully a technical issue as I doubt they've sold out the stadium.

Anyone know what the sky discount is?
Permalink Permalink

Seems the club dont want to attract many members this season bloody expensive for what if we are lucky could only be 7 games at the ROF that is if things dont turn to a Delta Custard.

pleased I didn't spend any money on the kit yet, need to find what my logon details are - no idea why this part has to be so difficult every year. From what I've read it seems a little pricey for some maybe home games, andI hope the sky discount applies to those who already subscribe to sky.

and of course they only have my membership details, not my sons. Guess I'm calling them tomorrow to sort it out.

Has this been all massively cocked up, or is it just me?
- no record of existing membership
- pricing that doesn't make sense (quite expensive, cheaper to buy 3 game packages)
- website spits out error messages for valid input.

At least we are not all going to miss out on first game kick off as cards won't arrive on time. Good to get a little variety in our ticketing issues I guess.

I suppose like other years it will be easier to phone up.

I know, I know, its serious!

I've always thought this Aussie Kiwi membership thing is pants.

Who is going to fork out that when NZ is still playing games with MIQ etc and there is absolutely no solid gold guarantee of any men's or women's home games.

Hopefully we also find out how we can watch the games....
Nix tweeted that it will be announced on Monday.
It's on BT Sport; I can watch that on my Android box.
We don't have that in NZ.
Lots of Android boxes in New Zealand.

Same I'm in NZ. I use my android box and watch it on BT sport. Don't usually get any pre-game show or after match comments to A league games. That wasn't an issue last year tho, as fox cut all that stuff. This year will be different though.
But with game being played simultaneously, I'm a bit worried how that is all going to be broadcast.

As a BT subscriber I've always hated that, especially when there is generally FA else on in the UK prior to or after these games sports wise.  Hopefully with the new providers this behaviour might end.

BT Sport is generally panned here in the UK as it is seen as being run and produced by a bunch of amateurs.  Like many Sky subscribers back home, it is only because they have the A League that I am a customer.

Really? Certainly for Scottish football it was and probably still is infinitely better. BT seemed less yank in its production than sky. But I’ve not lived in the UK for nearly four years now so I’m sure a lot has changed.

reading the wording it really only works for those that dont have sky already, buy a membership and get access to the a-league games for 10 weeks for free. (well not for free but as part of the membership fee)

It's a pretty big jump, and not that I'm defending it, but there are a few things to note:
  • Clubs has lost a shark tonne of money recently
  • I'll need to check my record but pretty sure we haven't had a price increase for at least 5 years.
  • Before this year we were among the cheapest in the league
  • they are probably banking on people retaining their membership for nostalgia reason. This is what will get me...looking back in 20/30 years time and being a continual member.

Yeah understand that to certain point. But having been away for so long is it a good idea to try and gouge more money from your faithful fans. Frankly they have handled the whole membership thing during Covid badly and with little thought. If they are charging that sort of money think many will hang out for one of the many freebies or those $10 tickets that appear after games.

The plan is to suck max $ off foundation members. Not sure how that will go for them.

anyway, I think this kind of pricing is going to be the norm from now one. When (relative) normality resumes, we will have more games than pre-covid outbreak times, plus there will be women's games to incorporate.

I thought the pre covid prices where pretty cheap for the fun you get.
These days it feels like more like a donation to a charity than buying tickets for games. Tough times for the club.

As a normal season price, it isn't that bad. The fact they haven't discounted it in light of a max of 9/13 games being in NZ is my issue.

It's $30 a game for season members or $23 a game for casual fans with the 3 game pass.

can almost guarantee the club wont be refunding anything if we don't see any home games this season. As low risk as that may be.

Is it? I don't get this, but I think they (or someone) has screwed up my membership details as I don't get anything to renew when I hit the renew link. Do others actually have a membership to renew?

Tbh I’d definitely consider it.
I used to go to pubs to watch a lot in some of the seasons. I mean as observed above the club will be doing it tough.
But then I’ve only ever had a benchwarmer membership or a northern membership, so haven’t been chipping in on that front.
Definitely invested in a bunch of the 433!

Nah no change mate.  I've no interest in Scottish footie so can't comment there so you might be right in that regard.  BBC coverage is starting to go very American too, especially the cricket 100 ball farse stuff.

This probably seems dumb, but I am really gutted the membership cards have gone digital.

I really liked having my stack of membership cards as a keepsake, and was hoping to get one for my son born this year so he could have a card showing being a member from his birth.
