Of course they do.  The All Blacks have played there.

Not being a rugby fan HN, I did not know that the All Blacks had played in Soweto.

The highlights of the ASB Final are a shambles!  I know Sky is not to blame but this really is crap.  For Auckland's 3rd goal they showed it in slow motion, and then showed no replays??  How bizarre.

Looks like they just broadcast it.  If they did do the filming, happy to blame them!

What are they showing instead of it?

6pm Kick-off?

Super 15, Swimming Champs (Highlights), NRL Delayed (Prior was NRL/Netball) & Golf

The Swimming Champs highlights would be on because there is a half hour gap between two Netball games.

So Rugby. League, Netball & Golf, not much surprise there.

Then meaning it gets delayed later are Formula 1, Basketball, League & the other A-League game

How do they monitor ratings on Sky? Is it based on the channel the decoder is on? If you watch SS1 and leave it on that when you are away for a week does it assume you watched SS1 continuously for 168 hours?

At least they are showing the second game live, rather than delaying the first game by two hours into that slot and then playing the second game afterwards, like the usually do.

I liked last night how they cut away as Mel was about to do an interview in order to show absolutely nothing for 10 minutes instead.

To do so would upset a lot of neandathols. I wish Sky would just start the broacast of the game and stay with it until after the last interview at the end. Including keeping the Aussie halftime show on. Instad we get 10 minutes of Sky self promo's FFS. BIG yawn. All that does Sky, is invite subscribers to channel surf.

Just seems to be about Sky fulfilling its contractual obligations. Nothing about supporting the game.

Sky carnts have put Jets v WSW on highlights channel, meanwhile there is a replay of the breakers game from last night on SS3.  A reply, serioulsy WTF!  Live sport should take presedence on SS1, SS2 and SS3 not highlights channel.

i don't see why it matters - for all we know there was going to be something live on 3 so they put the footy on highlights/sport 4 and then the live event may have moved or whatever on three and instead of moving the event from 4 to 3 they just left it.  I'm not bothered by that at all, will be nice if they make 4 HD at some stage and then there will be no issue at all.

Can't watch highlights channel on isky.   Reply of Breakers and Live game are at the same time.

Can't watch highlights channel on isky.

This. Also, they can easily change what channels events are on without affecting anything too much.

Rest of family usually watches other things on the TV on Sky. iSky is the only legal option for some.

yes of course they can - but what i am saying is that why bother, apart from i-sky users who can't see highlights (which will probably be fixed with Sport 4 coming soon) you may as well do as little fiddling of the schedule as possible, every change has some effect (series link, TV guides, VCR's - does anyone still use those, etc etc)
Apart from the i-sky issue and HD issue it just feels like some footy fans would rather be on Sport 3 than 4 and on sport 2 rather than 3 as if it's some kind of status thing..

Also I think motels/hotels have limited sports channels and don't carry the highlights channel.

Permalink Permalink

yeah but they might not carry Sport 3 either so that doesn't really matter.

obviously in your case at the moment it's an issue because of i-sky and I would like it in HD but if those things were fixed then there is no issue right?

With the Breakers replay - just making an assumption but when the schedules were first done maybe they didn't know which day the breakers were going to play on (Thursday or Friday) so they booked out both nights in the schedule - hence why the footy was scheduled for SSH.

Theres probably more people watching Breakers replays than live A-League not involving the Nix anyway. Honestly how many people across NZ do you think are truly interested in WSW vs Jets? Far less than there are even football fans.

Victory vs Glory on Friday night final is live on Highlights (guide says it will be in HD but I'm not sure)

Sunday's Adelaide vs Roar is supposedly live on SS3 on Saturday night. #Shambles

They seem to have fixed it on their website - http://www.skysport.co.nz/
7pm on the highlights channel.

Must have fixed it after I asked them to on Twitter. At least we get both games live, just a shame that they won't be in HD.

At least it means the motorsport will not be on SS1 2 or 3, so we are more likely to get all remaining A-League games live.

There's a football game going on in this world 24/7, South America, USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Africa, Asia. Somwhere sometime. One would think there'd be a channel for it. I mean who really gives a shit about the shopping channel? "Choice" & "Stratos" are showing the exactly same  stuff. Two channels for horse racing which often double up. I'd love to know how much the Rugby channel is maing, considering they have the same games on Sky Sport 1.

Let's be honest, Sky might lose money on a 24 hour football channel but they'd be lying if they said they were making money on 70% of their channels. I thought people had the choice to pay for what they wanted.

All I wanted was TV 1, 2, 3, Prime, UK, Sports 1,2 & 3, ESPN, Discovery, CI, Nat Geo, BBC World, TLC. They rest they can stick up their arse but no I "Have to have them" they tell me.

I would pay good money for a 24/7 football channel. Even if we just get the Australian Sentata channel broadcast on Sky I would be happy, and this would cut out a lot of the work for Sky. They could just pay Sentata a monthy fee, and just pass on those costs to the subscribers.

What would people rather watch, a live game of football from around South America/Europe, or a replay of the Blues vs Hurricanes from 1998 on the Rugby Channel?
