Mike Cockerill just on Radio Sport, sounds as confused as we are. Didn't mention that 442 article, he thinks its gonna get messy.

After reading that Tv3 article i'm pretty sure he is off to Turkey and that Gold Coast are just trying their best at the last minute to keep him.

I can't see Tony P coming out and making comments like it will be great for his future etc(Turkey) then he's not even going..

Who knows what could happen if he does well in that league, he's not old yet. Good luck! Great for NZ football.

I hope this works out for Smeltz - he is a Nix "hall of famer"

That said, he's gone - I'd rather the Nix focus was on getting 2 new strikers than worrying about even commenting on this mess - it's a matter for Smeltz and the club(s) who think they have signed him.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

More power to him if he gets it.

Can't really question the guys motives from the outside looking in...

I disagree

We (the fans) got told 'Its not the club or the money, its me, I wanna go home. Its about lifestyle and my wife and the deal from the Nix was marginally better, this isn't about money'

Now that someone has waved a bit more doh-reh-me under his nose (and his value would be the highest its ever been after last nights accolades) he is keen to get on that yellow brick road and find his way to anywhere but Oz

Tony P is the only one record as saying 'I helped back his bags, gleefully' Tony's nose has never grown before and learned after the Joel Porter saga only to open your gob when you got something to say.
Miron (the Mouth) is saying with a twisted tongue 'what agent sam I am? this smells of green eggs and ham. His bags are in his locker at Skilled park, this rubbish is all a lark...'
Smeltz is saying...... crickets...... cicadas...... and I bet the only reason why is because he is guilty as sin. All he has to say is 'Yeah I took the money, wouldn't you?' and I could totally respect that.

More mess than Oscar the Grouch. You're a hell of a footballer Shane and you've served us well and I'll support you in a shirt of all white, but to be frank, goodbye and take your crap with you!!

Agent you are wrong there. Career in Europe vs Career in Australia? I think I know what I would prefer and thats without money being added.

I do not dispute that at all WPF and totally agree with you for the most part (a: it wasn't a point I made and b: he failed before in Europe) and like I said, all he has to say is 'yeah I took the money, wouldn't you' but right now its silent because why? GCU caught him with his hands in the cookie jar not being entirely honest.

Funny didn't that happen to us a couple of months back? History repeating as News said a few pages back and history tells us that Shane can't be straight up OR hasn't got the minerals to be straight up.

This is all very strange, with various conflicting reports.
Im not a lawyer and dont know all the regulations, but would make two points:

- If Smeltz wants to go to Turkey for a better deal, then I dont think anyone even Gold Coast are gonna begrudge him that, provided its all done 'legally' and with communication.

- If this becomes legally and emotionally controversial, there must be some chance at least that he could end up staying with the Phoenix next season (?????)

Ok sorry Agent I thought that was your point. Smeltz before moving to England had played no where near as good as what he plays now so I think we can say Europe won't be so bad for him now.

I would think that the only person getting a good nights sleep and a silent phone would be Mr T Pignata.

By the way, well done Terry for employing a top notch CEO. We football fans have had some donkeys, but you got a good rooster in Tony P.

Unlikely because this year when it came down to talking turkey (excuse the pun) about contracts he said it was all about going home, not the money. Already told us once that Gold Coast is were the heart is...

Hmm. This is the same agent that probably advised Shane to keep his deal under his hat when practically everyone knew that he had

Which agent are we talking about is more the question. Miron says 'It was another agent not his'

The funny thing is Karis saying
'I have a binding contract to say I am Shane Smeltz's agent and no-one else can represent him'

While Karis is protecting his income stream (and his credibilty too I guess) he is only his agent unless Shane:
a: fires him or
b: he pays him out of the contract agreement they have as agent and asset
c: hires another agent to represent him

So if Karis is talking straight, then why would Tony P deal with another agent? Unless authorised to by Mr S Smeltz.

Messier still.....

"He doesn't want to go to Turkey and will be a Gold Coast player next season."

Leo K is either lying or hasn't talked to Smeltz because 100% Smeltz wants to go to Turkey.

I agree. All this horse-trading to try and get a better contract is one thing, but once they start to muddy the good name of my club I'm not having it!

I cannot believe that the Phoenix management have behaved in anything but an honourable way. I thinks it's time for Mr Smeltz to go on the record to set things straight or to pull his agents head in (if he is still his agent).

What does Tony P have to lose from being dodgy?

a: his credibilty, no one will never believe anything that comes from his mouth ever again
b: what agent would want to deal with a CEO that can't talk straight
c: respect of the nix fans
add to the fact that he got burnt in the Porter saga for speaking too soon....

Does this sound like Tony P? Hell no.

Open your gob Smeltzy. If it was a lead story on 3 news, you can bet your bollocks that they have tried to call him to get something on the QT. Why hasn't he denied it? Because there is truth to it.

Edit: And, the bulk of the money goes to GCU so its not like we benefit on a large scale financially.

Is the Gold Coast complaining about Smeltz having talks outside a transfer window? The cheek.

I reckon it'd be beautiful if this was a bit of "Well, you remember a while ago we had all but sealed the deal with Joel Porter, well... you'd all but sealed the deal with Shane Smeltz, but as we remember it, it was you guys who then took our hard work and picked him up, so we decided to cash in on Smeltz who has sent through a postcard saying Selam from Ancara."

And then signed off with a big...

:-P - don't be fighting the contract game with the Nix y'all
