At the present time I can see some advantages.

I thought a Mickey Mouse round might be more appropriate

The whole concept is tragic, we are literally becoming Micky Mouse, Wellington Disneyland we will be called next season.

Disney? Yep, since 2012 when Disney bought Lucasfilm.

What's the problem? It's a bit of fun and obviously the league is being paid for it.

Cause it's literally got nothing to do with football, and it's pretty cringeworthy - especially if you're not into Starwars

I'm OK with it, I won't be wearing a costume but some might and drag in a few new fans plus obviously a money earner for the A League.

I was discussing this the other day. Which way do you think the money is going?

1) From Star Wars to the A-league to attract Football fans to star wars

2) From the A-league to Star Wars to attract star wars fans to the A-league.

Knowing the FFA are not great at deals it's probably Option 2. But could also see it being both options and cost neutral.

Surely it's not 2?  I'm deeply cynical, but not that cynical.  Either way it reeks of depseration

Neither does Huawei or Garage Project.

I haven't seen any of the new star wars and don't understand the fuss about the old ones, but it's no more cringe worthy than any other marketing campaigns.

Disney doesn't need the A-League to promote the biggest film of the year.

In other news, Wellington Phoenix players model their new "stripey" to be worn in a future A -League "round"

Basketball is a novelty sport though so it makes sense to have themed nights for it. Football not so much.

Please explain

Fan chant "We'd rather watch the movie" during a turgid 0-0 draw?

How is it actually going to work, apart from giving the round a name?

Are they going to pack the grounds by showing the movie before or after each game?

Giving away movie tickets or other freebies to fans? 

Encouraging people to dress up?

Or will we simply hear the theme music when the players walk onto the pitch?

Shark concept I think it is!

Hopefully none of those, in any case its completely tragic, but I do hold some hope out for the "Mermaids Round" after Xmas, I will definitely be there for that.
