So. Just like Ifill was a spent force when he came here.
Plus spent force in Europe (or not good enough at high level in Europe) does not mean spent force or not good enough for the A-league.
Geez, some people you just can't please.

The sorts of clubs Huysegems has been playing for in recent years have been really Championship level too (Genk, Lierse, Roda). The Belgian First Div. and the Dutch clubs outside say the top six, are basically Championship level.
I think ^ is a bit of a stretch. The leagues glory days are well gone..14th ranked now in Europe. They usually get knocked out by Premier league clubs..Boro included in our halcyon year x 2 :>(.
Still looking forward to seeing him play.
A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

"I've heard good things about the A League and contacted Archie Thompson who I played with for Lierse in Belgium. Archie said if I had the chance to join Wellington to take it.

Who'd have thought we'd have Archie to thank for anything?
How nice of those Victory types....
Hi Andrew. Good to see you can log on again. How are things in Melbourne?
Notice your Twitter has woken up again as well. If you want to develop a following you need to tweet regularly...
However, I must commend you commitment for attending the All Whites' game in Auckland as you claimed on 442.
Got a smile from me....

Players in the prime of their career don't come to the A-League so every European player we sign will have something for us to worry about - doesn't mean we shouldn't sign them. He'll get loads more chances against A-League defences than he would have done elsewhere so scoring stats are a bit of a red herring. We just need to focus on getting him fit, keeping him fit and integrating him into our side. I think he's got pretty much exactly the type of CV I'd expect for a non-marquee signing. Doesn't mean he'll automatically be a success but the level isn't going to be beyond him
Normo's coming home

Totally this.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

No. That's Feverish.
We're the WELLINGTON Phoenix
And this is our Home

Yeah was wondering about what they'll be paying him - probably excellent value as a non-marquee signing under the salary cap. Definitely worth giving him a go! I've come around to thinking he could be a good acquisition as few players aged "only" 30 with his pedigree would be interested in playing for regular A-League wages.
Photo of Stein I found with a certain Frenchman taken last year!!!
The strip of his previous club Lierse looks very similar to the Nix strip:

Now that HN is impersonating Richie Benauds former PA, Faye Dingaway; probably yes!

Thought he was decent tonight. Reckon it's a defenite upgrade on Greenacre.
I don't think we'll get the best out of him trying to put balls in the air, he really didn't look too confident on the head, compared to his goal where he looked a complete natural and took it so calmly
Normo's coming home
Yeah definately not a target man. Looks good holding it up and bringing in other player.
Looks far better facing the goal than with his back to it - seems like Brockie and him are more similar than I originally thought they would be; Stein seems a bit Greenie-esque, to be honest. Well taken goal, though.
a.haak

All of what you guys said. I was pleasantly surprised by his target man ability considering he's not one. Was impressed with his work rate, I thought we might miss Greenie's pressure in defenders and tenacity but Stein didn't sit back at all.
Can't wait to see him next week. Its gonna be a hard one with so many player missing. So he will have to make an impact.
"Yellow Fever are fantastic – I have to say that"

Didnt think he hustled all game like Greeny used to, but maybe thats because he's still not 100% match fit

like Tevez you mean? Lots of good performances on Saturday - some worry about how we set up for corners - Paston is our number 1 and usually sound with high balls in the box but left flapping a couple of times. Titori wandered off a bit when we lost possession but the midfield rocked and that was helped by the work Brockie and Stein did chasing the back 4

just going to listen to it now
editting - to add a Deaker warning - may not be able to listen to all of it (where's the barfing icon?)
edit #2 - worth a listen and even if it's Deaker it's good to get the coverage - Waffles seems like a smart and decent guy - as well as a footballing genius.
Interesting he says that you pronounce his name hi-c-gems, but De Jong said on the TV coverage that reckoned he talked to him and it was prounounced who-c-gems.
yeah de jong was saying it more hose-c-gems.
Dutch and Belgium pronounciations would be very similar and the hose/hoose sound is a very dutch sound. I get the impression he doesnt really mind either

If you listen to the way you say house in dutch, I would imagine its a similar type sound to that
