Good game to watch very entertaining. To bad the A-league games can't be this consistent every week, with the entertainment factor that is.

Are we the only team that is not allowing our young players to ave any game time?
Biddle and Simon were great when they came on. every team's young players seem to be getting alot of game time except for ours. Would like to see alot more of Costa.

Awesome game but sh*t for the Nix. Realistically we were never going to make the top four anyway (sorry) so all in all it was entertaining.

If we keep 6th I'll be happy.

Absolutely amazing game. Great stuff.

Nestling the only player Costa's age who is getting game time is Tsattalios and as has been stated before aussie youth are much more developed than NZ players because of the AIS system. Tsattalios has been very average too.

Missed the game but sounds amazing. 5-4, is 9 goals in one match the highest the a-league has ever had?

Yep. Beat the previous record by 3.

Results like that are brilliant even if they don't suit our team. Crowds will likely rise after that, and it makes great viewing.

There was already a crowd of 17,500 there which is absolutely huge for CCM who have a population base of 300,000. (less than Wellington)

Shows what Wellington could get to if we get some results.

Are you saying that if we knock 5 past Sydney in January then next seasons crowd average will be 17 500 or more because we are a bigger city?

*hoping the answer is yes*

I just feel gutted and robbed.

Four players carried off two sent off down to eight in the end.

Worst game by an official I have ever been to in over fifty years, what did it seem like to you guys.

I think ref should never be given a A-league match for the sake of the league, the crowd and pressure was to much for him.

You mean it shows what kind of crowd Wellington could get if a city with the same population as New Zealand was an hour up the road and we were playing against them?

If in the same situation as CCM vs Sydney, we'd probably get a full stadium.

Without a doubt the best A-League match i have seen to date.

Three for me, and two for them.

to be honest midfielder i believe the phoenix have copped worse performances by refs than that yhis season (e.g home v adelaide, 2 clear pens not given and a goal diasallowed for goodness knows what)

I did think think though that sydney were being allowed to knobble your lot on occasions

re the sending off - it could have gone either way - the tv commnetators saw it as reasonable  (but for all i know they might be biased) and some on here believe it was a bit harsh - either way it changed the game

Same ref that completely changed the match at Queensland when Elrich was sent off after Seo down in dranatic fashion.

Mind you we have had a few match-changing opportunities lately not taken!

I know, I know, its serious!

What was wrong with the ref? He let a few too many fouls go but the 2 red cards were spot on. Think the tackle that broke Heffernan's leg should've been a red card too though.

First red could have been should I think have been a yellow, there was no gaol scoring opp and the ball took one of those funny bounces. The law states a yellow, a yellow and a penatly or a red.

Alosis was hacked all night, When Hutch was hacked in the first half after beating his man and Alosis running into clear open space.

Just that we were hacked all night and if we blow air a Sydney player it was a free. I could go on but word limit in server would mealt down

F*** me we have four player carried off, two sent off, one playing covered in bandages, down to eight.

Maybe I am two bias, but a great game had a ball don't balme Sydney just the ref, but hacker kossie has shown his true colours.

Vukovic was the last man so that is a straight red, no?

I don't think the ref had a choice but the send the keeper off, he came out of his box because the ball wasn't going to make it to him the striker was so close. If he'd pulled his hand away and let it run it would have been a tap in for the striker (assuming he could catch up with the ball)

I thought the ref let a bit to much go and that favored Sydney's game a bit, but all round I thought he got the big decisions right on this occasion.

I still think the Vukovic sending off was harsh.

I think it's pretty clear that he didn't play the ball with his hand deliberately - as such, that's only a yellow card offence. I'm also not buying the argument that it was a DOGSO case - the ball was heading away from goal, and there were at least two, possibly three CCM defenders in the box who were both in position to compete for the loose ball with the Sydney forward, and who clearly were in a position to defend the goal so there would have been no easy tap-in. So if I were a CCM fan, I'd be mightily pissed off right now...

Really good item on TV3 sports news a moment ago - once again, illustrating the postive attitude they have adopted towards football in this part of the world.

To put my previous post on this match into context. We were beaten I can accept that its life.

But next week from that match we have seven players out, four injuried including a possible career ending leg break on Heff. Three players suspended two for reds and Hutch as yellow  catch up.

Sydney F***** choppers, who hacked us all night, nothing except a win. Thats what hurts if we farted at a Sydney player it was a free, they hacked and kicked all night, at least five hand balls by FC  unseen  and we have two players send off for same offence.

The ref IMO had a very bad game, even the last red if you go back to the play that put them in the box in the first place was as good as any basketballer I have ever seen. Hand to feet ............MATE ............ it is wrong to have such hopeless people in charge, and a couple of your posters said he gave you guys the rough end of the pineapple as well. I think it started when he sent off Vok and Mariner players gave him a little to much lip and he from that point on, we could do nothing right in his eyes, and that is not a quality ref IMO.

The FFA are spending heaps on coaches, juniors etc, they need to put a lot more into the ref's as F********* Me they can control the outcome.

Not quite the drama but in this years finals in the team I play for, 5 mins left 1 all and a draw gets us into the grandfinal. Pox in the box from other side hands the ball down and then shots they win 2-1 go throught to the grand final (Kama got them they got smashed 6 -0 lol).

We were spewing after match then went and had a beer with ref and the other side, but it was park football on a sunny afternoon, not a team  trying to get into Asian Champions League, and now we have 7 players out.

Rant over for now, almost ready to talk to wife agian.

the worry for us in midfielder's tale of woe, is that CCM might still need something from the last game of the season,

if they were already comfortably top before we played them that would be a good thing

I hope CCM win every match for the rest of the season except their one against us. I want the Mariners to win...if only because I don't want Newcastle to win, am not so keen on Adelaide either, don't rate Sydney, and would rather break my own leg than see Queensland win!
